Farewell to CVN65

Posted on Mon May 4, 2015 @ 8:48pm by Fleet Captain Rhea Kennit

As you all know (or do now), I work at Newport News Shipbuilding. This video clip was released by the company to mark the move of CVN65, USS Enterprise from Pier 2 into Dry Dock 11 where her inactivation will continue.

While she doesn't have warp nacelles, she's still the Enterprise.

I thought I'd share the clip here .. you don't need to log into Facebook or 'like' the company page to view it. Or at least I was able to view the clip by clicking the link without having to sign into Facebook on my laptop and on my phone so.. *shrugs..

Anyway.. The second carrier visible as CVN65 is being lined up to enter the dry dock is CVN72, USS Abraham Lincoln which was in the dock undergoing RCOH, the ship is now tied up at the outfitting pier to continue and complete her RCOH for delivery back to the US Navy and return to active duty next year. (Yep.. next year. It takes a long time to build an aircraft carrier, and it takes a long time to refuel and overhaul one too.. :) )
