Personality & Traits

General Overview Katrijn is dedicated to Starfleet and considered a good officer by past CO's.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:

High scientic-technical skills and profound education; rational humanistic view; good command abilities; sensitive, personal interaction with crew while maintaining at least the minimum of professional distance; exceptional commitment for the well-being of her crew, in case of need even risking her own life; repeatedly succeeds to develop brilliant, unconventional solutions for seemingly hopeless situations and unresolvable problems

Weaknesses:

Problems with military-tactical field in younger years; often quite loose interpretation of the Starfleet protocols, based on personal motives (guilt, former losses), in order to achieve her goals (e.g. to bring ship and crew home safe and sound); difficulties in accepting inevitable strokes, e.g. the death of a crew member, with professional distance - instead she tries to help and rescue everything and everybody by all means, even if it seems impossible.

Hates the Borg with a passion. She has little tolerance for crewmen who do not

take their duties seriously. Also, she suffers from a very real disliking for spiders.
Hobbies & Interests Music - Listen to classical music (Mahler, Tschaikowsky)

Literature - Prose and poems of 19th century, including works of Dante Aligieri (La Vita Nuova, Inferno) and Jonathan Swift

Arts - Interests in ancient sculptures and classic scientific instruments

Sports - Playing tennis, diving and skiing

Personal History As a child, Katrijn was often getting into trouble for disobeying her parents and doing as she pleased. She was an adventuresome child, and loved to explore her surroundings and learn as much as she could about what was around her. At the age of 10, she developed a strong interest in space exploration and one evening after eating dinner informed her parents that she intended to join Star Fleet and one day command her own Starship.

Katrijn proved to be an excellent student, she excelled in her classes and remained in the top 5% of her class throughout her education. While in school, Katrijn developed an interest in marital arts and eventually earned a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate. She also took up fencing, developing a love for the feel of a sword in her hand and won several competitions for the school fencing team. As part of her fencing training, she studied several forms of dance from ballet to contemporary in order to improve her speed and agility.

She was accepted into Star Fleet Academy, where she continued her training in both marital arts and fencing as well as taking up study of the Klingon Bat'leth. She was a member of the Academy Karate and Fencing Teams throughout her time at the Academy. Katrijn majored in Science and Physics with a minor degree in Engineering.

Her final year, she was accepted for the Star Fleet Command School and continued her education there before her first assignment.

She was stationed aboard the USS Marjik, A Nebula-class Starship as a junior Science officer. By the time she was due for transfer, she'd been promoted to Lt. jg. Her time aboard the Marjik went by fairly calmly.

Next, she was stationed at Earth Station McKinley where she worked in support of a stellar research project underway to study the Sol system's sun in an attempt to discover a new way to harness some of the Sun's energy for use.

Her next assignment was aboard a Galaxy-Class vessel, the USS Carolina. Two years after joining this crew, the ship was ambushed and attacked by a group of renegade Klingon mercenaries. Caught unprepared by the Klingon ships cloaking device, the Carolina was boarded by a small group of Klingon and human mercenaries intent on stealing supplies from the larger ship. The Carolina's security team was successfully able to capture the boarding party while the Bridge crew disabled and took over the Klingon vessel. The prisoners were transferred to Starbase 19 were they were taken to a Federation Holding Facility to await trial. For her actions during the emergency, Katrijn was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal and promoted to full Lt.

Her next assignment sent her to the USS Harrison, an Ambassador Class vessel. Kristen actually served two tours of duty aboard this ship, her first as junior and then later Assistant Science Officer. As one of the ships junior security officers, Katrijn was awarded 2 Star Fleet Achievement Medals for her exemplary service and training record while aboard.

When her first tour ended, she opted to remain aboard the Harrison as its Assistant Chief Science Officer. During her second tour aboard the Harrison, Katrijn and 3 other members of an away team were caught in a severe atmospheric disturbance while traveling to the surface of an unnamed planet for a survey mission. The shuttle was damaged and crashed on the planets surface. A section of the overhead paneling blew out upon impact as a power conduit behind it gave out. The explosion sent a 2 inch long shard of the paneling into her shoulder and lodged within the shoulder blade itself. Due to the unexpectedly violent storm, rescue was held up for 7 days - by the end of which Kristen was running a fever from an infection in the wound.

The infection was the cause of the scar left by the injury which the medical teams aboard the Harrison could not remove.

She was then promoted to Lt. Cmdr. And transferred to the USS Issiquah, a Sovereign Class vessel as its Chief Science Officer. While stationed aboard the Issiquah, she served 2 tours of duty as its CSciO, and received a promotion to full Commander. Following that, she was assigned as Executive Officer for the USS Forrestal.

After her tour of duty aboard the USS Forrestal, Commander Kennit was transferred to the USS Endeavour under the command of then Captain John Murdock.
