Personality & Traits

General Overview AJ is a very regulation oriented individual while on duty, which can be seen in the manner in which he carries himself down to the way he folds his socks. However, this does not prevent him from being creative on his feet, especially when solutions are required on a split second basis or cutting loose in social environments.
Strengths & Weaknesses AJ is highly creative person who can think of solutions on his feet and create options where there might not normally be any.

On certain occasions, AJs rigid sense of morals get in the way of clear thinking or decision making.
Ambitions Now that he has become a commissioned officer, eventually he wishes to become a Fleet Foreign Affairs Officer.
Hobbies & Interests AJ is an avid Velocity player and enjoys rock climbing as a secondary pastime.

Personal History AJ Taggart was born in Spokane, Washington in the year 2361 to Harm and Sarah Taggart who were stellar cartographers for the Federation. Throughout his early life AJ was a rebel, going against all those that tried to help him and often resorting to acts of delinquency.

At the age of 17, AJ's behaviors finally came to a head when he was arrested for an act of criminal destruction of a local Starfleet Recruiting Office (He had set fire to it.). The judge in charge of the case gave AJ a choice- Serve time in jail or join Starfleet. AJ chose the latter in order to escape his own personal road to nowhere.

In January of 2378, AJ departed for Recruit Initial Entry Training on Regulus II. His training division commander, Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman John Salas was especially hard on the upstart that he saw as an affront to good order and discipline. However, Senior Chief Salas saw the potential for greatness in AJ, so he continued to push at him to be better than he was.

In December of 2379, Crewman Taggart graduated from Starfleet Initial Entry Training, first in his recruit class and was awarded his commbadge. A few days later, he selected his Specialty Training School as a Master-At-Arms and departed for Joint Security Force Training Center-Camp Buchanan. AJ completed this training in April of 2380 and was promoted to the rank of Master-At-Arms Third Class. Shortly after his promotion, AJ was assigned to the USS Firebolt, a Defiant Class vessel in charge of counter piracy duties as a Tactical Officer. It was during this year that he earned the Starfleet Expeditionary Warfare Medal.

In 2382, MA3 Taggart was reassigned to Tactical Interdiction Squadron ONE as a member of the Deployable Operations Group, a rapid response team responsible for boarding pirate vessels. In this assignment, AJ was responsible for leading basic and advanced boarding maneuvers. It was found that AJ excelled in his field and was awarded the Starfleet Commendation Medal.

In 2383, AJ was assigned to the Starfleet Corrections Service as a Corrections Specialist at the New Zealand Penal Colony. In that year, AJ was caught in the middle of a prison lockdown when he was on patrol in the maximum security section. During this time, his entire team was killed and access to weapons and communications was cut off. This proved to be an incredibly traumatic experience for AJ and he became withdrawn and moody, to the point that his duty performance suffered for approximately a year. For a while, he was barely able to perform his duties and was placed on mandatory recovery leave.

In March of 2384, Taggart was returned to duty as the Corrections Division Leading Petty Officer with the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. Completing his tour of duty in December, he was reassigned to Starfleet Training Command on Earth as a Recruit Company Commander. Here he 'pushed' three recruit divisions through a year's worth of initial entry training. As a result, AJ was awarded the Starfleet Training Service Medal, Recruit Division Commander Badge, Starfleet Good Conduct Ribbon- Second Award, and Meritorious Service Ribbon.

In the interim, AJ applied to the Fleet Enlisted Commissioning Program as a Tactical Officer. After being denied, he was offered an alternative option- the intelligence officer pipeline. Taking a chance, he accepted the offer and reported to the Fleet Intelligence Training Annex aboard Starbase 216 and attended the Fleet Intelligence Officer Course. Completing this course in August of 2387, AJ was commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (O2-E) and ordered to report aboard the USS Victory as the Chief Intelligence Officer.
