This was due to the way he was raised. Jim also appears to be flip with authority, but this is done when he feels comfortable in his surroundings and respects his superiors. | Personal History | Jim Holbridge was born on Gault Colony to parents who were accomplished Starfleet academics. Unable to spare time for their son, Jim was raised by a series of abusive nannies who punished the boy if he didn't conform to their expectations. At age 9, the boy was left to fend for himself at their home while his parents were deployed. A serious shuttle crash nearly killed young Jim, who was sent to boarding school. As a result the boy developed the inability to trust anyone as he was mercilessly bullied until finally beating a senior nearly to death. Jim was miraculously accepted into Starfleet Academy and breezed through his academics, having difficulty forming friendships and other relationships. Holbridge showed great aptitude for flying as was accepted into the Combat Pilot Training pipeline. During his three years at Starbase Pensacola, Jim acquired the callsign "Bouncer" after repeatedly falling off an electric bucking bronco at a local bar. Bouncer went on to graduate training first in his class and was assigned to Utopia Planitia as a test pilot, but was pressed into service as a combat flier during the Dominion War. Holbridge racked up an impressive string of kills during the War before being shot down and captured by the Dominion. He and 459 others were imprisoned in Internment Facility 4049, A Cardassian shipyard that utilized prison labor to build warships. Jim's photographic memory of the detention area and schematics allowed him and 50 others to steal a Galor-class warship prototype and escape Facility 4049. After recovering from his imprisonment, Starfleet SOCOM tapped Holbridge to become a member of Task Force BLACK SWORD. FURTHER INFORMATION CLASSIFIED Ten years later, Holbridge resigned from Black Sword and became an agent-at-large for Starfleet Intelligence, assisting with key areas and trouble spots. Holbridge was placed in command of Nebula Security Group, a shell company for Starfleet Intelligence providing security for diplomats and VIP's in the Gamma Quadrant. Upon the destruction of Starbase 900, Holbridge disappeared along with most of his staff, resurfacing a year later with no memory of where he was or who had held him. Jim has no memory of his time or missions with the NGSC, and has been searching for other members of his team in an effort to find answers. After an undercover assignment was compromised by an unplanned prison break by the crew of the Victory, Jim loaned his expertise and assistance to the crew, being accepted as the Strategic Operations Officer.
