Captain’s Log
In the 18 days since Q hurled both the Victory and the Endeavour into this distant future, with vague instructions that we are needed here to identify and stop an apparently immortal, omnipotent being who the Q referred to as simply ‘The One’ from escaping a prison created somehow by the Q Continuum at the center of the galaxy. The Q fear this being will, if somehow able to escape from this prison, destroy all life within our galaxy in retaliation for having been imprisoned eons ago by the Q.
Not for the first time, it seems that one of the biggest issues which all civilizations in our galaxy must face is in fact, the Q.
After making repairs to the Endeavour, and redistributing personnel in order to staff both vessels for getting underway with Commander Walker assigned to the Endeavour as her acting Commanding Officer, we have been making our way back toward what should be Federation occupied space. Perhaps I should rethink that, a better statement I believe is .. we are slowly returning to what was once Federation occupied space. Thus far, our sensors and communications systems have found.. nothing. Nothing at all. We have not detected any other ships even at the furthest reaches of our sensors. There are no communications signals, no navigational beacons. Nothing. So much so that we have conducted several complete system calibrations and verification tests to confirm that our systems are not malfunctioning. All tests have confirmed that the Victory and Endeavour’s systems are fully operational and without any errors. We are not detecting any comm signals or other vessels, because there are none.
And that is.. somewhat unnerving.
Granted, we are well outside of conventional territory but even so, there was a steady signal from navigational beacons which has now gone silent. We detected warp signatures, most of them from unknown sources but the signatures were there. And now..
It’s quiet. Too quiet.
We should be coming into range to start picking up energy signatures and the beacon for Starbase DQ-8 in the next 48 hours, assuming that there is still a starbase there. Nine hundred years is a long time, but the region had been developing into a transportation hub with many civilizations passing through there on trade routes with the Federation and with one another. It’s certain worth a hope that some semblance of what we knew would still be there. I am allowed to hope.
One other item of.. concern. At least for me. Since arriving here, despite the fact that Q has tinkered with the Borg implants which are a part of me, I have not sensed anything from the Collective. There is a subtle awareness of something but.. there’s no voices. No.. commands no ..anything. I think that’s the most unnerving aspect of this strange timeline into which we’ve been thrust. I feel as if there should be something and yet.. *she sighs*. There’s only silence.
In my experience throughout my career.. silence like this is never a good sign.
