Mission:
All this has happened before...
Location: Captain's Privare Dining Room
At the end of his shift Alec hurried to the Captain's Private Dining Room to prepare the meal for her/them which in part would serve as an apology for his smirk at Rhea's injury earlier. Everything had to be just right for this evening. The lightning, the wine the music, the food, everything!
He began by selecting a nice, yet robust red wine that would go well with the evening meal. He next selected some classical music, Beethoven to be exact. next on his to do list was lightning the candles with enhanced the mood greatly. Next was the meal. He thought of what Rhea not only would like but enjoy as well. He thought for several moments before a smile crossed his face as the answer came to him. Now it was just a matter of pulling it all together. He grabbed an apron and got to work.
It had been a long day to say the least, and her ankle was aching (not that she would ever admit it). Entering the dining room, she stopped and looked around in a little surprise.
Alec heard the doors hiss open and he came from out of the kitchen, "Hey, hey," He greeted Rhea as he came over to her, giving her a kiss as he did, "Come in, take a load off, thrown your feet up. I'll be right back." As he disappeared into the kitchen only to reappear moments later with a glass of wine in his hand. "Here you go, a little something to help you relax."
Accepting the glass of wine, she said "Trying to get me drunk already?"
Alec laughed in delight, "Not at all Rhea, I'm trying to help you relax, I know it was a long day and your ankle is bothering you even though you did a good job not showing it" He waved around the room. "I hope all this so far meets with your approval."
She smiled, stepped closer to him and slid her hands up around his neck. Snuggling in close to him, she said "So far so good .."
His arms slipped around her waist as she snuggled close to him. He kissed her softly, "Good, that's what I was hoping to hear. For the record, again I'm really sorry for what happened in Sickbay. You're the most important person in my life Rhea and I never want you to doubt that."
She smiled a little, didn't speak but just stayed here hugging him for a moment.
He continued to hold her. He would hold her forever if she wanted that. he kissed her neck. "I have dinner to finish preparing. One I hope you are going to enjoy. You can come in and supervise or go and relax on the couch."
"Is there time for me to take a shower?" she asked.
He drew his head back and looked at her, "Sure there is, though I think it's mean of you to take a shower and I can't be there to wash your back." He bantered back.
She smiled a little, "You promised dinner.. I want a bath. You'll have to just miss out this time.."
He sighed and nodded his head, "So I did, alright I concede the point as long as there is a next time. Go get your shower, it'll give me more time to get dinner ready for our dining pleasure."
"Don't burn the water..." she told him over her shoulder as she retreated towards the bath.
"Everybody is a critic. Go get your shower, bath and be careful. Whatever you do be careful." As he ducked back into the kitchen to continue the preparation of dinner.
Leaving him to the kitchen, hoping that he wouldn't set off the smoke alarms (again).. Katrijn retreated to the bathroom for a blazing hot shower to help relax her muscles and.. everything else!
Watching Rhea disappear toward the bath, Alec got back to work. He placed the salmon steaks on the grilling pan drizzled some lemon pepper sauce, and placed some spinach atop them and placed in the oven. The rosemary potatoes were already cooking as were the string beans. He hummed happily, all was going to plan. He took a sip of his wine and hoped Rhea liked the meal.
When the Captain returned, she'd showered and was dressed comfortably in light gray sweatpants and one of his t-shirts which was too large for her slender frame, but quite comfortable. Wearing socks on her feet, she padded to the kitchen and said "Smells good.. nothing burning too.. I"m impressed.."
He turned at the sound of her voice, "Now that looks much better." He answered as he nodded approvingly at her casual attire. "Burning?" He scoffed, knowing full well how his previous cooking attempts had gone. To say not too good was an understatement. "You're right on time. Dinner is almost done." As he checked the string beans and stirred them. "Perfect." he announced as he removed them from the heat. "Have a seat and be prepared to be dazzled.......I hope."
Sliding into a seat, she said "Dazzled huh? Sounds interesting.."
Alec laughed as a grin appeared on his face, " Yep. Dazzled but in reality, I'll settle for good." As he placed the string beans on the table. They were followed by the rosemary roasted potatoes. Saving the best for last, (or so he fervently hoped} He brought forth the grilled salmon steaks sprinkled with lemon pepper. "Voila!" he exclaimed as he placed the pan down so Rhea could get a better look. "What do you think? Mouth watering right?"
"And healthy too.. I'm impressed.." she told him, then added teasingly "Unless the good Doctor has been after you to conspire with her against my nutritional habits which she doesn't approve of.. in which case I'll warn you now.. try and stop my coffee and we'll have a galactic war going on right inside this little ship's hull.."
"No conspiracy Rhea. I did this all on my own. If the Doctor doesn't like your nutritional habits then she'd hate mine so I'm not going to tell you what to eat or not. Stop your coffee? Not on your life. I'd like my head to remain attached. Not to mention I want to be back in your good graces and stopping your coffee isn't the way to do it."
She smiled just a little, "Well at least one person on this ship has a good head on his shoulders then.."
"I'll take that as a compliment besides who else knows you better than me?" He bantered as he refilled her wine glass, then sat down in his chair. he gestured at the food, "Please help yourself, let me know what you think."
Settling in to eat, she gave an approving nod. "This is good.. "
He smiled broadly at her as he put some food on his own plate. "I'm glad you like it Rhea." As he took a forkful of fish into his mouth. "You're right this is good!" Reaching for his wine glass he took a sip. "Who knew I could cook so well?" He said in good self humor.
"A man of many unexpected talents.." she answered with a smile.
"Yeah, who would have guessed." He replied giving her a smile of his own. "Though the only thing I'm interested in is making sure you're happy and enjoying yourself right here and now."
She cocked her head to one side and looked at him, "Is that so? What else do you have planned?"
"Yes, that is so Rhea. I was planning on having a nice quite intimate evening with you that's if your finished being mad at me." Alec replied with a grin. "You are done being mad aren't you? I sure hope so cause I hate you being mad especially at me."
She cast a glance at him. "Mad? I do not get 'mad'. Starship captain's never get mad." she paused for a bare moment, then added "We get even."
Alec sighed dramatically, "Oh great. So now I have to worry about how you're going to get even?" He poured himself another glass of wine. "I have a feeling I'm going to need this." As he then took a sip.
"Probably won't save you.." she commented simply.
He looked at her and took another sip of his wine. "Well, that's a sobering thought." He said dejectedly. "I suppose I should enjoy this meal, might be the last one I enjoy for awhile."
She just smiled a little, licking her lips slowly .. "Oh I don't know .."
Rising from the table, she finished off the glass of wine in her hand and set it down then looked at him for a moment before turning and heading towards the other room. Disappearing through the door, after a moment his tshirt was tossed out to fall discarded to the floor.
Alec was pondering just what diabolical plan Rhea had in store for him when he caught sight of his tshirt sailing out of the other room to land haphazardly on the floor. He stared at it for several seconds before a smile slowly made it's way across his face. Finishing off his wine he rose from his chair, "Oh, thank you!" he exclaimed happily. Then he stopped, "I hope this isn't a trick." He muttered then shrugged his shoulders. "There are worse ways to go. Here I come, ready or not."
