Captain's Quarters
After that semi-long soak in the tub which had been recommended by Dr. Anderson, Rhea found herself with little to occupy her time. She wasn't feeling inclined for a visit to the holodeck, after all there was only so much one could do and it made little difference how skilled the programmers were, it was still just a simulation. A parody of life and she found the idea vaguely repulsive.
The thought of a visit to the ship's gym and training area didn't do much for her either. The Victory's Captain was bored. And that... generally was not a good situation for anyone!
She briefly occupied herself by searching through the ship's vast library of reading material. The Victory contained an electronic library which contained everything from fiction to horror to you name it.. the library probably had it.
It didn't take long for her to determine she wasn't in the mood to read either.
The 'shine she'd acquired from MacLeish and Braigh was at least a distraction. A tasty one at that. The boys were a bit slow on the uptake but they did indeed brew up one hell of a batch of booze..
She was on her third.. or maybe fourth glass when the door chime rang and then before she could respond the doors opened and Alec entered. Lifting her glass, before she took a drink she said "Why ring the bell when you're about to let yourself in anyway?"
Alec scowled, not missing the teasing note in her voice but finding the casual comment a little frustrating even so. She acted like nothing had happened..
"What are you doing?" He asked as he walked toward her.
She didn't answer right away, being busy draining the glass she held with slow, deliberate swallows. Then, wagging the glass at him so that the ice still inside rattled softly she answered, "Drinking!"
"That isn't what I meant and you know it.." Alec answered.
Rhea met his gaze squarely. "I could not tell you. You know full well that I could not discuss that part of my past. I still can't. If not for the unusual nature of the situation we're currently in, you still wouldn't know and you would never know if it was left up to me."
"You should have told me!" He answered. "I would not have given it away.."
"That isn't the point!" She barked back. "Did you even wonder why I am here. . On this ship. Now? Maybe I'm here because I was sick to death of fighting a war we can't ever really win. Sick of fighting a war no one outside of 31 and it's masters even knows is being fought! A war that has been going on for decades and which will never end and I was sick of it! The last thing I want to do is rehash any of that! When I walked away.. I. Walked. Away."
Approaching her, he said "I love you. You know that. I would never do anything to put you at risk and all I want to do right now is make sure you're all right.. that you're okay after what happened..."
She burst out laughing, stepping closer and said "Oh I assure you .. I am just fine..". Before kissing him deeply.
After several long moments when the kiss ended, he couldn't help it. "What are you drinking?"
The Captain's grin was one of pure mischief. "Best hooch in the Delta Quad.. good ain't it?"
"It's something.." Alec answered. "I'm not sure if you should be drinking .. you should rest..."
"You want me to rest? Help me get tired.." the Captain answered.
"I'm not sure..." he started to say.. she cut him off. "Consider it an order Commander.." just before deftly, with surprising determination.. pushing him towards the bedroom..
