Mission:
Nibiru
Location: XO's Office
ON:
T'Mira had finished part of her to do list. She had a few people to see today and one of them was the new XO. The old one...didn't care for her much but she hoped that since the new one was part Vulcan he would be more of a logical man. She made her was from sickbay to the XO's office. Tokai was off to the restaurant but he'd asked her to deliver his report. PADDs in hand she stood outside the office, straightened her uniform and rang the chime.
Walker was at his desk. "Enter." His ears were very Vulcanoid. The ridges on his head showed that he was partially Klingon, they were more profound than Romulan skull differences. His eyes and hair were another matter. Dark brown hair with red tints, and tricolor eyes, both Recessive Human traits.
T'Mira entered the office. She took in the XO and gave a nod. "Commander, Welcome to the Victory I am Lieutenant T'Mira, Chief Intelligence officer and Head of Diplomatic Security," her hands were clasped behind her back. The eyes of the man were striking. He was tall and the ridges quite fascinating. She'd read the file, she read all the files as was the requirement for her department. An interesting hybrid but perhaps a Vulcan to practice her martial arts with.
Walker nodded, "If I read your file correctly, we have worked Missions together. I was in charge of creating a distraction so you could get something and arrange a hand off." That is the way Intelligence works, a lot of moving parts. "I use explosives or start fights to cause distractions." He was calm and calculated about it, like it was a normal part of his past.
"There is that familiarity sir. Am I here at a bad time? I did not create an appointment." She still stood by the door waiting to be invited in further. An almost vampiric gesture.
Walker grinned and leaned back, "No, I am ahead of schedule. Efficiency and Efficacy are two things I learned well going to school on Vulcan. I could however, use a reprieve. How can I help you?" He motioned to the chairs.
She walked in and sat down. She placed one PADD on his desk first. "This is from the Diplomat. He is ship's Diplomat and Chef he asked if I could deliver you a report on relevant issues that he's dealt with on the station and a departmental report. He is supervising the set up of his in ship equipment for the mess hall and planning the official launch dinner." The second PADD she placed there was her own. "This is the Intelligence Department report."
Walker picked up the Diplomatic Padd, "Allocating staff will take time." He turned on the monitor. He typed out a message. "I just requested station maintenance help with getting the mess hall up to code and his standards. Ship crews are working double shifts already. We can ask the same of our brothers and sisters on the station." He looked at the Intel padd, "Walk me through this."
"There are some reports of heavy Borg..." She flinched on that word, "Activity in the delta quadrant. I have requested one staff member to assist me in the department and am waiting approval. Our systems are operational. I will be going to review the computer codes and reports from other sectors shortly. There is nothing at this time to worry about. I have also ordered a few updated devices from Vulcan that may assist with intel gathering and reporting." She studied him again. "There is however an issue with a few programs that were installed on the ships computers and I will take personal attention to those so that they are reinstalled manually. I have a call scheduled with someone from Vulcan Intel who also has ties with the Klingon home world shortly...oddly it is an aunt I have not seen since I was a child. We will share information and I will have that written up by end of day and to you."
Walker wasn't fond of the Borg, "We have the Voyager Intel and R&D. While it isn't a be all end all, it is more than we had a few years ago. Janeway messed up the Borg's day. They aren't what they were, but adaption is their skillset. We will keep our guard up." The word will was forceful.
She gave a nod. "Commander, I have a question. How do you work? Do you require weekly updates or monthly? I am curious as everyone has a preference."
Walker looked at her, "I want a copy of your weekly report to Starfleet Command and SFI. Sit down with me and/or the Captain for five minutes, bring any Intelligence concerns to us. In that time, you elaborate on your reports, bring us uncorroborated suspicions. You also come to staff meetings unless otherwise excused."
"Understood. It is...good to have an XO familiar with SFI." she thought a moment. "Sir. I have a question."
Walker looked at her, "My branch of Security, it is said we couldn't do our job without SFI. SFI couldn't do their job without us sometimes." He grinned, "Go ahead. Ask your question."
"How honest is too honest. I have been told by superiors that I do not tend to have a filter. I have worked on this issue but I seem to not be doing well. I strive for honestly and never have been able to get used to what Human's call sugar coating. Will that be a problem?"
Walker pointed to his ears, "I was born with sexy ears. I find honesty very much preferable. Unless the Mission is to lie. If you think I am an asshole, call me an asshole. If you believe my course of action is faulty, ask to speak to me in private. If you disagree with an order, you can follow it under protest. Just respect the chain of command "
She gave a nod. "Excellent. I, indeed, look forward to working with you."
Walker looked at her, "Is there anything else? You said you had an aunt contacting you. I wouldn't want to interfere with that, as long as it doesn't interfere with your duties." He knew the compartmentalization abilities of Vulcans.
"I have not spoken with her a while. She is my mother's half sister. She has some intel to pass on and I cannot image anything other then that." T'Mira was a bit defensive when it came to her family. Her life growing up had not been peaches and she avoided family. This call came as a curious bit of information. Why now? What made this conversation important. "I do not require anything else. Do you have any questions for me?"
Walker looked at her, "At this time, no. In the future, I would like to discuss your studies in martial arts."
"A discussion I would welcome. It has been a while since I was able to practice with a non holodeck opponent. If you will allow I will take my leave now." She said standing up and waiting to be formally dismissed.
He motioned towards the door, "Dismissed."
She gave a nod and headed out. She had a long list and she was putting off seeing the doctor too long.
