Mission: Nibiru
Location: USS Victory, Halls of the ship

ON:

As Xander walked with Walker through the hall ways of the Victory. "Commander I appreciate the hand to hand practice. It was...invigorating."

Walker looked at him, "You did, very well." He grinned, "For a Diplomatic." It was a joke. He actually thought Xander did well, in general. "Nothing like being prepared for hands on negotiations."

"Those are always the most interesting ones." He was silent a moment. "Commander...may I speak with you in confidence?"

Walker answered, "You may."

"I have been...concerned about a crew member."

Walker stopped and looked around, when it was clear, he answered, "Go ahead."

"Specifically Lieutenant T'Mira. I have been...concerned about her."

He centered himself, "Please tell me about your concerns."

"I was open late last night working on some menu items. T'Mira was in at 0300 hours. She's...had dizzy spells and there are times when she seems so lost it's like it takes her a moment to comprehend that she is here. She's...avoided sickbay. She has admitted that she cannot meditate. I do wish to help her but I do not know how. Perhaps a family member speaking with her would help."

Walker looked at this, "This has been brought to my attention. I am watching this situation. Vulcans tend to be very private people. Is there anything in Vulcan Medical Science that could account for the things you have witnessed?"

"Perhaps. I will monitor it too but it is good to have someone else who knows about it. T'Mira...is a remarkable woman." He admitted.

Walker grinned, "All of the blood that makes me is Spectacular. So she must be as well." He became serious, "If you attempt to date her and you hurt her, I will remove the pips from my collar."

Xander stopped and looked at him. "You do realize I'm an ambassador right?" He sighed. "I am not attempting to date her. I am just making an observation."

Walker looked at him, "Yes, I very much realize that. You wanted a lesson in Heathenry and History from that perspective. The God Teutates is said to have taken savages who would stab their brother for meat, and taught them to be dedicated to Family, Tribe, Home, and Tradition before all things." He grinned, "If I didn't value you as a person, I wouldn't tell you what I just did." He hoped Xander got a chance to understand aspects of this subgroup of pagan culture that isn't fond of outsiders. Telling him anything about it was respect, regardless of the specific words.

"Ah. I see. Fascinating." He thought a moment. "May I ask a personal question?"

Walker nodded, "Go ahead."

"What is it that brought you to Starfleet?" He genuinely wanted to know. His own story was...not interesting but he liked hearing the stories of others.

Walker looked at him, "I'm a Legacy. My father was Starfleet, his parents. A Walker even served under Kirk and under Archer. Before Starfleet, we were Military. Warriors all the way back. Duty and Service are my Legacy." He looked at him, "Of my genetic make up, I was denied entry into the Vulcan Science Academy. Officially, my grades in Sciences were too low, which they were. My personal options were Klingon Military and Starfleet. Starfleet gave me more opportunity to be well rounded."

"An excellent choice. We are honoured to have you. In terms of Vulcan do not let that bother you. Being half Vulcan and half Betazoid was no picnic. Vulcans...well they are Xenophobic even though they do not admit it. Very few embrace the IDIC principle, they like to pretend they do but I've only met a handful that truly do."

"I have just as much Klingon blood. I will always be a mixbreed, but those who fought me would start judging me on my battle prowess. I wouldn't get very far studying history and other cultures for them."

"I believe that your diverse genetic background is what makes you unique, and I for one, am glad you are here with us and that I have had the opportunity to meet you."

He nodded, "And I you." He looked at him, "You wanted to learn about a near extinct Earth Religion that my family does it's best to follow?"

He smiled, "I did indeed. I'm a history buff." He studied him. "Did your people do a lot of blacksmithing?"

Walker nodded, "Blacksmithing is a requirement in any Society. My father required each of his children forge a sword and axe using the old ways. No replicated parts. He said it would teach us inner strength."

He smiled, "I've always found smithing relaxing. Tell me more of your mythological background, the Gods of your people."

Walker answered, "I would have to take you back to the beginning. The first two Gods, their names lost to history. They are simply called The Mother and Hunter. The Hunter courted The Mother by building a tree for her, the Tree of Life, Wisdom, and Knowledge. They consummated at the base of the tree and the Mother became The Mother. The Hunter built her a House. He got injured on a Hunt to put food in the House. She tended his wounds. They had four children, names lost to history." He waited for Xander to catch up.

"Fascinating." He encouraged the man to keep going. History was always a hobby of his. The more he knew the better."

"The First Four Gods carved weapons from the branches of the Tree of Life. The wood chips gave us other Gods, Beasts, Creatures and Beings of Magic, and the first humans."

"I find it fascinating that a lot of Creation myths from all over the Galaxy are themed much the same." He was about to ask Walker to go on when his com chirped.

=/\="Johana and Tom to Tokai. We've finished clearing the lounge and were to have lunch before the mad dinner rush. Do you want us to lock up when we leave?"=/\=

He sighed. He was glad she'd hired a staff but he wished he hadn't hired a husband and wife. "No. I'll be back shortly. Just leave out some of the pre packed sandwiches we have and some drinks. I'll start dinner preparations when I arrive."

The com closed and Tokai looked at Walker. "Well. It's time for me to get back. Perhaps we can arrange a time to forge together. It has been a while since I have worked at one...a few weeks anyway."

Walker grinned, "That would be nice. Heathen Creation myth is longer. We haven't even gotten to Odin yet. See to your duties. History will still be there."

Xander said his goodbyes and headed towards the mess hall not knowing that he'd be needed elsewhere soon.

Walker headed back to his quarters to change and went back to his rounds.
