T'Mira stared out at the stars grateful to have a moment to herself. She'd stayed at the party for Ensign waters a brief time and then had left finding not many people to talk to. She didn't understand these gatherings.

"Lieutenant? Couldn't sleep?"

She'd sensed him before he'd spoken. Xander Tokai had a way of moving that commanded attention. He had an energy that she hadn't felt in a long time. It was no wonder she mistook him for the Vulcan god of the dead. He moved silently.

She turned, "Ambassador. Apologies I did not mean to intrude. I thought the mess not occupied." She turned to go but Xander was quick.

He placed a hand on her arm. "Oh, no. Not that easy. Something has been bothering you for a few days."

She looked up at him, a mistake. His light glacier eyes seem to look into her very soul. She turned away. "I am fine."

Xander let go of her arm. "You are not fine."

There was a long silence. "No. I am not."

He motioned to a table. "Sit. I shall return shortly."

She raised and eyebrow but did has he asked.

Within a few minutes Xander was back with two generous slices of chocolate cake.

T'Mira could never resist it. She had a weakness for chocolate that was quite illogical. She took her slice and dug in right away.

Xander hid a grin, he just raised and eyebrow in Vulcan fashion. "Fascinating."

She looked up at him. "It is good cake."

This time he did smiled. "Yes well. I made it. Now tell me what has been bothering you and don't lie."

Statements she could rebut but there was a question there and she could do nothing but respond truthfully. "I have been reading a letter sent to me by myself from the mirror universe."

Whatever else he'd expected he hadn't expected that. "I see." He paused. "Go on."

"My previous captain obtained a letter for me. When he was in the mirror universe he met my double and she wrote to me. She wrote to me of her life growing up, of her career, the person that she was."

"I see." He knew that things in that universe were not always as they seemed. He'd read of those who'd traveled there by accident or need. "And?"

"We were quite similar. She... lost her way but in many ways we were similar. It has made me wonder."

"I see."

She looked up at him. "You see?"

"Those who are in the mirror universe, by my understanding, are darker versions of ourselves."

She gave a nod taking the time to process things, to put them together. "Yes. That is true. Yet her writing, her ... motivations seemed to be glowing with light."

Xander stayed silent a moment. "Ah. I believe I see. You are worried that since you view her as a being of light you are the darkness."

She stayed silent telling him all that he needed to know.

He sighed, "T'Mira, you do not think much of yourself do you?"

Again her silence spoke volumes. "There are ways on Vulcan to examine one's katra, to look deep within ones soul."

She gave a nod. "I have been thinking of that as well. I have prepared my resignation. I plan to leave on the supply shuttle that has just docked."

It was Xander's turn to stay silent. "Then we will both leave."

She looked up at him startled. "Excuse me?"

He smiled, "My place is with you. Have you not felt it? The energy between us. The rightness."

He had felt it; she had fought it but he was right. They were meant to be in one another's life. She gave a nod.

He stood and extended his hand to her; his index and middle finger extended.

She looked at the gesture for only a moment before touching her own fingers to his. She rose slowly and allowed him to lead her to his quarters. She knew there would be passion but she also knew that there would be something deeper. A union, a bonding.

=/\= The Next Morning =/\=

In the morning they had woken in one another's arms, they had eaten together and the bond that was made last night was solidified. By Vulcan law they were now married. She felt oddly at peace, as if something was falling into place and as if her new start was what she needed.

T'Mira dressed in her uniform and while Xander went to pack up his office she went to her quarters to do the same. "T'Mira to Commander Walker and Lieutenant Levesque. Can you both please meet me in my quarters."

Walker tapped his comm, "Give me five and I will be on my way." He finished up crew evaluation notes. He was reviewing Department head Crew Evaluations and signing off on them. He secured his terminal and office and headed to T'Mira's quarters.

Camille was finishing getting ready to go to the lab when she got the call. She tapped her commbadge, which sat on the dresser, and spoke. “J’arrive!” She finished brushing her hair, put her glasses and badge on, straightened her uniform, and left.

She arrived at T’Mira’s door at the same time as Walker. “Bonjour, Commander.”

Walker's curiosity was peaked, "Good morning, Levesque." Both of them being summoned. He didn't know of any Intel Ops on the books.

The scientist chimed T'Mira's door and waited for permission to enter.

T'Mira called, "Enter."

She watched the two enter just as she placed her bag by the sofa. "Thank you for coming." She looked at the two. "I do not know where to start." She sighed. "I will be leaving on the resupply shuttle shortly with ... Xander. Last evening we were bonded."

Walker kept his face neutral out of respect for Vulcan Culture. "Congratulations Cousin. I am honored to be one of the one's you told." He was very happy for her.

The squeal of delight that came from the small blonde was almost inaudible, though she stopped when she remembered that T'Mira, Xander, and Cullen all had hearing that could probably pick up the high-pitched tone she was making. "Sorry. But yay!" She stepped towards T'Mira and grinned. "Is it alright if I hug you?"

T'Mira gave a nod. "Of Course." She hugged her friend again grateful that the woman had asked. She even allowed one of her rare smiles.

Walker grinned, "If he hurts you I will have to react like a Walker. I know he won't. He is better than that, but it is tradition to say. "

“You’re expecting he’ll still be around after I’m through with him, Commander,” Camille joked. She winked at Xander and gave T’Mira another squeeze before pulling away from the hug. “I’m going to miss you. I’ll think of you whenever I visit the Galerian Museum. Maybe when I’m back in the Alpha Quadrant, we can make plans to visit it for real?”

Walker grinned at Camille.

She gave a nod. "I will look forward to that." She turned to the two. "I have something for each of you." She turned and walked to the table. She picked up box and handed it to Camille. "It is a Fire Necklace." The silver chain held a green stone that when held up to the light looked as if it held a burning flame within it.

“It’s beautiful,” Camille replied. “Thank you.” A tear ran down her cheek.

She turned to Walker and handed him a large package. "It was something I made for my brother but I thought it best for you to have it. A reminder of Vulcan." Within the package was a while silk like shirt and deep sand robes with an intricate patter of Vulcan letters.

Unwrapping it, Walker looked at it, "This is beautiful. You didn't have to. I wish you well on this leg of your journey. Live long and prosper." He held up his fingers in the Traditional hand gesture.

"Be well and take care my friends."

Saying a final goodbye to her friends she headed out. Xander was already on the shuttle. She took one last look at the bay and entered knowing that her destiny was elsewhere.
