Use some logic and common sense when constructing your character for the Star Trek universe.
This RPG is primarily a military operation as part of Starfleet.
Avoid the 'Whiz Kid'. In other words, a 16 or 17 year old is not going to be considered. Likewise, someone that young is NOT going to have been given command responsibilities etc.
Another no-no is a criminal record or blemishes on their military record.
Civilians would have to have skills and expertise valuable to Starfleet to be considered. Again: Avoid the 'whiz kid' concept. It has been done to death.
