"She wants ALL the tricorders recalibrated?" Henderson said, running the first of many over the body of the nurse lying in front of her, and glancing between the tricorder and the biobed.
"Yup," Tennyson said, crossing his legs in an overly-relaxed pose. "And according to the duty roster, we have the honor of standing here doing it all morning."
"I'm standing John, you're lying down," Henderson said. "How did that work out again?"
"It's simple Jen," John said, "I outrank you, ergo, I get to lie down for a bit."
Jen shot him a look and picked up the next tricorder. "Have you met our new CMO yet?"
"Heard a few things. Rumor has it she's a serious hard-ass. Has been working with Romulans for the past few years, and had them cowering," John said.
"Wow, if she can make Romulans cower, she's going to march all over this place," Jen said, reaching to put the calibrated tricorder down, but doing a double take as it was snatched out of his hand.
"It was Rigellians, not Romulans," Nicole said, skewering them with a glower. "And if you'd like to see how hard-ass I can be Mister Tennyson, I'm sure I can find extra duties for you, since you have so much lying-around time."
John leaped off the biobed and straightened up. "No Ma'am. Sorry Ma'am," he said.
Nicole tossed him a small leather bag and pointed at her office. "Put that on my desk and get back to work," she said, taking her tricorder and sticking it in her hip case.
"All right everyone listen up!" Nicole shouted, getting the attention of the few other staff in the room. "We're now under way. I want reports from every station in fifteen minutes before splitting out to your individual shifts. Anyone not reporting in is on report. Clear?"
The heads nodded and she nodded back, turning on heel and walking out of Sickbay, heading for the bridge and another awkward introduction. She stepped into a turbolift and as the doors closed, barked an order to the bridge, reaching into her uniform top and pulling out a silver flask. *Always nice to have a reputation,* she thought, annoyed, taking a swig then tucking her flask back in its pocket.
