Mission:
All this has happened before...
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: Morning 63269.829
Aidan didn't go out of his way to avoid Christopher, he just didn't go out of his way to look him up either. At least their second encounter had been better than the first, though the older man didn't know how close he had come to having Meiyo, literally try to take his head off. But still he hadn't made a total ass out of himself, like he had the first time when he had misjudged the older officer's intent.
He didn't want Chris to think he was pursuing or stalking him, so he just went about the daily routine. He spent a lot of time on finishing his model of the ancient Earth vessel, the H.M.S. Titanic. It was different than what he usually built, being more modern, so no sails to fuss with. Still it was challenging in its own way.
By the time they arrived within Transporter range he had everything packed and ready to go. Double checking with the Exeter's quartermaster and transporter chief, to make sure everything was going to be sent directly to the room he had been assigned, he missed making the trip with his new shipmate.
He was still getting used to having his atoms dematerialized, then rematerialized elsewhere, but he stood resolutely on the Exeter's transporter pad. Meiyo sat beside Alpha, she really didn't like what happened to her. She didn't understand it and therefore hated it. But Alpha was in control and she had do do what he said. She could sense he wasn't entirely comfortable either so she stepped a bit closer to him and licked his hand. Then seconds later they both appeared on the Victory, no worse for wear.
Nodding a greeting at the attendant he chose to head straight to the Captain's office to report in. He wasn't sure how she would react to a dog on board her ship, it wasn't against regulations per se, he'd checked, but that didn't mean that she was going to like it either.
"Best behavior," he said as they walked towards the turbolift. She looked up at him with her innocent brown eyes and almost seemed to smile, her tongue falling outside her mouth.
They reached the bridge few seconds later and crossed it drawing more than few glances. Aidan pressed the chime, then ran a hand nervously through his hair while he waited for the reply. Meiyo for her part just sat on her haunches.
Hearing the door chime sound, the Captain called out "Enter!"
"Best behavior," Aidan whispered to the dog again as he stepped inside. "Good afternoon ma'am, Lt.(j.g.) Aidan Mejia, reporting for duty." he said as he saluted, "I'm your new Diplomatic officer."
Meiyo cocked her head to the left and inspected the uniformed woman. She didn't smell like an Alpha, but she had the bearing of one, the way she held herself. She looked at her with her "puppy eyes" the ones she gave her Alpha when she wanted a treat, or he yelled at her when she'd had an accident, which to her credit almost never happened.
The Captain merely nodded, already aware of who Lt.JG Mejia was and why he had been sent aboard. She rather disliked the diplomatic corps, past experience with other diplomatic officers had generally resulted in unfortunate events which could have (in her opinion) been avoided. Looking at his side, she cocked her head slightly to one said and said, "And who might this be?"
Meiyo cocked her head to one side and gave a low whine. She continued looking up at what she now determined was an Alpha and took a few tentative steps forward, "This is Meiyo, " Aidan said, 'that's Japanese for honor. I hope you don't mind having a pet on board. She's actually a pretty good judge of character and I think she can come in handy on Away Mission."
The dog advanced a few more steps her curved tail wagging.
"I don't have any issues with personal pets aboard." the Captain confirmed. "I had one once myself." she add. "May I?" she asked, with a nod towards the dog.
"Go on," Aidan encouraged to both the dog and the Captain.
Meiyo crossed the short distance then lay down on her stomach cutting a glance back at her Alpha and a new interest, "She can be very protective of me, but won't bite otherwise, but she is usually more reserved around strangers. You said you had a pet once, what happened?"
Holding a hand towards the dog, the Captain answered simply "Time.." Then, to the dog she said softly "Well hello there Meiyo.. don't worry.. I generally don't bite.."
"Ahh, I'm sorry," he said, biting back a laugh when she told the dog she didn't usually bite. Meiyo of course didn't understand the woman, but she seemed friendly enough and, at least for now, wasn't threatening, so she reached up and licked her fingers.
"If you need additional items to care for her, just let the quartermaster know.." the Captain said as she scratched the dog's ears.
Meiyo looked up at the Alpha, who seemed to know just where to scratch. She let out a contented sigh and wagged her tail. This was going to be a good place. She just knew it.
"I will and thank you ma'am, or do you prefer to be addressed as sir?"
"Ma'am or Captain.." she answered immediately. "Sir doesn't quite seem to fit.."
"Good enough,"Aidan replied, "I know some female commanders prefer sir, but ma'am seems so much more natural to me. Is there anything more you'd like from me?"
Meiyo looked over at her Alpha blankly. He seemed to her to be in a hurry to leave, while she was thoroughly enjoying herself, then she turned her gaze back to the Captain, licking her hand again.
Standing up straight, the Captain shook her head. "No, not at the moment. Unless you have any additional questions or concerns for me.." she added.
"Not that I can think of now ma'am,"Aidan replied, "I'll do my best not to cause any inter-galactic incidents or blow up the ship.... Oh, there is one question I have. What is your policy regarding ship board romance and relationships?"
She just shook her head a little to one side and then answered, "So long as it does not interfere with shipboard duties and responsibilities.. it's not my concern."
Aidan wasn't sure at that point if his encounters with Chris would turn into something or not. Or if not, if he would find someone else on board, but he was glad for her response and the corners of his mouth quirked up at the corners, "Glad to hear that," he said, then turned towards the door, "well ma'am if there is nothing more, I guess I'll be leaving."
"It was nice to meet you Lieutenant.." the Captain said. "And you as well Meiyo.." she added with a little smile.
