Mission: Dīvide et Impera ~ Chapter One: Sending Out An S.O.S
Location: USS Victory

Following a six week furlough at Starbase Celayur for necessary repairs, the U.S.S. Victory returns to active duty and departs on a standard patrol assignment. A distress call draws the Victory and its crew to the aid of a suspected smuggler ship under attack by an unknown hostile force, and an old enemy returns...

Location: Federation Starbase Celayur

::Six weeks after the attack on USS Victory by unknown alien aggressors::

Hundreds of beings representing multiple races and species throughout the Federation and a few new faces, beings local to the Delta Quadrant through the promenade deck, the passage of one slender female wearing a deep green civilian dress, it’s long skirts swirling gracefully with each step as she strolled slowly across the Promenade taking in the sites, sounds, and discussions going on around her. Enjoying the anonymity provided by her attire, Captain Rhea Katrijn Kennit took her time returning to the Prometheus-Class starship which rested securely in the station’s repair dock. She still wasn’t exactly certain she wanted to return at all.

Problems with her Borg implants had necessitated that the Captain be transferred to a medical facility where a functioning Borg Regeneration alcove was available. Originally installed to assist in the recovery of individuals rescued from Borg encounters, Kennit spent 16 days connected to the alcove, the device sustaining her systems while the nanites lost as a result of her injuries were replaced. In the process, alterations considered by the alcove’s programming to be ‘damage’ had been repaired. She felt strong, stronger than ever in fact. The medical staff had also removed the scars left by surgery after she’d been shot in the assassination attempt.

The Captain was aware that the repairs to the Victory were complete. The ship had been undergoing systems calibration and testing during the past 9 days and was expected to receive final certification for return to active duty.. in about 2 hours actually when the transmission containing the documentation would be sent across. Her gear had been delivered aboard several hours ago. Undoubtedly by this time Alec was getting antsy awaiting her arrival. She wanted to see him, she’d missed him during the time away. At the same time, Rhea was sick of it. Sick of regulations, sick of fighting. Rather sick of everything to be honest..

She just had no idea what else to do so..

Here she was. Wandering around just.. taking her time.

Unfortunately she was running out of time. When the transmission came across the expectation would of course be that the Captain would sign off on the acknowledgement, a task which Alec was perfectly damn capable of doing and why the hell did she have a First Officer who had overseen the repairs if he couldn’t manage signing off on a damn stupid certification notice too...

Bloody stupid regulations...

The bane of her life. Regulations rules and medical officers.

Shit.

She was going to have to go to Sickbay and subject herself to the Doctor for a medical check when she did return to her ship. Fucking regulations. Again!

What good was being the Captain when your every moment was dictated by some damn stupid regulation..

Unconsciously, her left hand clinched into a tight fist.. knuckles cracking softly as she got her first look at her ship in 6 weeks. The Victory hung suspended within a rats nest of girders and support cables. It’s hull gleamed white and pristine, not a mark on her.

::That won’t last..:: The thought came unbidden, sarcastic and a bit malicious.

Approaching the docking tunnel which led to the Victory’s quarterdeck, Captain Kennit approached the pair of crewmen manning the airlock. One she recognized, Lt. Belcher, the other must be new..she didn’t recognize the young Crewman staring at her with his jaw slightly hanging open. Coming to a stop, Kennit said “Lt. Belcher, I was advised that my gear arrived earlier today?”

Belcher nodded, his internal shock at seeing the Captain dressed as she was rather than in uniform well-hidden. “Aye Captain, your belongings were taken to your quarters. Welcome back ma’am.” He told her as he watched while she submitted to the retinal scan.

“Thank you Lieutenant.” the Captain said, though her gaze was on the young Crewman still just staring at her, “I don’t think I’ve met you Crewman..”

He blinked, finally. “Uh..No..no ma’am. Crewman Danny Vickers.. I transferred over two weeks ago.”

Kennit just nodded, “Good luck Crewman..”

She stepped through the airlock then and was gone. Leaving the two watch standers alone. Vickers spoke, “Holy shit..THAT is the Captain?” He whistled, “damn..”

Belcher just shook his head, Captain Kennit was beautiful no doubt..and in that dress...

For her part, well aware of the audience watching her, Kennit added a subtle sway to her walk..just for the benefit of the boys...

Once aboard, briefly Rhea considered returning to her quarters to verify that her gear had been delivered as indicated but then decided it didn’t matter. Either her gear was aboard, or it wasn’t. At this point, there wasn’t much she could do if something was missing. She’d go to Sickbay. Let the Doctor run her scans and the. She’d go check her gear and change into a uniform or something..

::Sickbay::

Sickbay was standing room only. New crewmen were being examined under Doctor Anderson's new stringent guidelines and supplies were being stocked. Two shifts of crew were on duty to get all three Sickbays up to snuff with Doctor MacKenzie running back and forth to coordinate everything.

Strolling through Sickbay, the Captain completely ignored the open stares from personnel and staff and instead, simply pointed at a nearby nurse and said “Where is she?”

Speechless, Maggie pointed in the general direction of the Doctor’s office. Accepting the response, the Captain nodded and replied “All righty..”

Crossing Sickbay, the Captain noted but did not acknowledge the obviously new crew members in various stages of checking in. When she arrived, she discovered the Doctor deep in conversation with the ship’s First Officer. Cocking her head to one side, standing in the open doorway the Captain announced her arrival by saying “Well well well... what have we here? Plotting a mutiny?”

At the sound of her voice, Alec spun around "Rhea! I mean Captain! Welcome back. I missed you. And no, nothing that sinister."

Nicole folded her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Well, well, I'm impressed. After your extensive speech about never gracing my 'chamber of horrors' again, I'm flattered you'd show up."

A slow, sensual smile curving on her lips the Captain crossed the short distance to where the XO stood and wrapped her arms around him, pressing a long, searing kiss to his lips. When the embrace at last broke, she gazed at him and said only “Hi.”

Nicole's other eyebrow raised and she stepped back a step, although in the confines of her office, there was no possibility of a "respectful distance."

Alec was surprised but only for a moment by the embrace and kiss as his arms came up and around her, holding Rhea gently in their embrace. When the kiss and embrace broke he answered her simple greeting with one of his own but was genuinely heart felt. "Hi yourself."

“Missed me huh...” Rhea said, her voice pitched low and slightly husky. “How much did you miss me?”

A blush began to slowly make it's way up Alec's cheeks as Rhea's questioned him. Leaning into her he spoke softly so only Rhea would hear, His own voice taking on a husky timber of it's own. "I'll be glad to show you tonight in private but suffice to say I missed you more than all the stars that are in the sky."

Captain Kennit actually pouted at that, “You’re going to make me wait that long?”

Alec's blush deepened. "I am open to suggestions Rhea." As he avoided looking at Nicole and the face she was undoubtedly making.

The Captain’s smile was nothing short of lascivious as she pressed closer to him, rising on tip-toe with one hand on his chest, the other at the back of his neck, fingers lightly caressing his skin there as she whispered a very quick yet detailed ‘suggestion’ into his ear. Well aware of the Doctor and enjoying that bit of tweaking as well, Rhea drew back slightly and added, “Just to start..”

Alec was positively scarlet at Rhea's 'suggestion' not that he/they wouldn't enjoy themselves but damn Rhea was teasing him and enjoying his embarrassment. When she drew back and added "Just to start.." He could only nod and reply, "God, I hope so." Again trying to blot out the fact that the CMO was there and taking this all in.

"Well, looks like a grand evening for all," Nicole quipped then leaned over to look directly at the captain. "Perhaps we should make sure you're up to snuff, while Commander Hunter takes a high-pitched sonic shower."

"Um, no need for that Doctor." Alec huffed even as his cheeks still retained their scarlet coloring. "I'm fine." He managed to add.

“I would agree to that,” Kennit answered, still gazing at Alec. “He’s quite fine...in a number of areas...”

Alec managed to keep from blushing again at Rhea's 'compliment' even as his eyes met hers and he desperately wished for the evening to get here so they could work on Rhea's 'suggestion.'

"The windows of my office are going to steam up at this rate," Nicole warned.

At last turning to lock her piercing gaze on the Doctor, the Captain said, “As for you Doctor, I will for the moment acquiesce to your request.”

Nicole curtsied. "Thank you ever so much for such a generous donation of your time," she said. "We'll use the surgical bay for privacy."

Observing the Doctor’s curtsy, Kennit glanced at the XO and said “She’s been practicing...”. Running her fingertips down his chest, she added “I’ll see you later..” Then to the Doctor, with a wave of her hand she said “Lead the way Doctor..”

Alec glanced at Nicole before his gaze returned to Rhea. "Seems like it." He agreed. When Rhea ran her fingertips down his chest it was all he could do to keep from shivering at her feathery touch. He felt like a high school boy who was dating the prom queen. Rhea always had that effect on him. He nodded his head, "Damn right you'll see me later."

Kennit just winked at him, then rather saucily walked through Sickbay, new personnel and old alike moving out of her way quickly as she approached and passed. It was th way she walked, and the look in her eyes that prompted swift clearing of her path. Reaching the surgical bay, the Captain didn’t enter right away and instead, turned and looked at Doctor Anderson, her expression one of ‘what’s taking you so long?’

Nicole glided by, black gag in hand, without deigning to dignify the Captain's stare with a response. "Climb aboard," she said, gesturing to the table, and putting her bag on an empty instrument tray. She opened it and rummaged around for a moment, frowning. She pulled out a tricorder, an old, dog-eared book, and a thick black rod, looking again in the bag before returning the rod and book to its depths. "Now," she said, "shall we dispense with the usual dissembling and you give me an honest assessment of your situation?"

One slender, perfectly groomed eyebrow arched as the Captain gazed at the Doctor silently for a moment, then, as the information requested entered her consciousness she answered, speaking in a very smooth, controlled tone of voice. “Cortical implant operational parameters are nominal. Damage to neuro-muscular network repaired, network operational at 92% efficiency. Spinal augments are optimal. Protective shield generator is repaired and operational, current status is online and in standby mode.” The Captain continued to report on several other of the remaining Borg systems within her body, sounding as if she was reading the data from a scanner. In a sense, she was. Her time in the regeneration module had repaired many of the systems in her body, as well as updated the data network within her cortical implant.

"Good," Nicole said, flipping open the tricorder and scanning the Captain carefully, corroborating her internal diagnostics with the tricorder's scans. "Some inflammation, but nothing too serious. You seem to be making a full recovery." She closed the tricorder and looked the Captain in the eye. "How do you feel?"

The Captain shrugged her shoulder and gave a little shake of her head as she answered, “I feel fine.” She paused, a glimmer of pure wicked fun lighting her dark eyes as she added in a decidedly pleased tone of voice, “I fully expect to feel even better later...”

"Good to know," Nicole deadpanned. Her people were in no way prudes, but given who it was, she wasn't sure she wanted to know more. "Try not to strain anything," she said. "I'll check up on you in a day or so."

Thoroughly pleased at having successfully ruffled her CMO’s feathers, Captain Kennit’s smile reflected her self-satisfaction. Gracefully sliding off the bio bed, she smoothed the skirt of her dress and replied, “I look forward to it Doctor. Have a good afternoon!”

Exiting the private area, she sent two new crewmen scrambling out of her path with a simple yet highly effective scowl as she exited sickbay.
