Mission:
Plaga Navis
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Immediately after the Pirate encounter
Maggie whistled to herself as she ran through her checklist, her green eyes scanning Sickbay slowly. The other nurses were all going about their duties and she was about to return to her projects when the doors to Sickbay opened. She turned quickly, her blonde curls swishing around her face and her eyebrows went up at the face approaching. "Hello," she said, smiling, then blushing at the look he gave her. "Can I help you?"
Zack smiled as she approached. "Lieutenant Zack Logan, reporting very eagerly for my physical. I hope you're the one giving me my physical."
Maggie blushed harder and tucked a curl behind her ear. "I um..." she cleared her throat. "Well I can get you started, yes. This way?" she gestured towards a biobed.
Zack looked at her. "You're very pretty when you blush." He followed her. "I told you my name, what's yours?"
"Nurse Margaret Cromwell," she said. "Maggie."
"So Maggie. You married, engaged, seeing someone? If not, would you like to get a drink with me sometime?" Zack smiled at her.
"I....am dating someone, actually," Maggie said, somewhat apologetically.
"Well....if it doesn't work out, let me know." Zack was starting to wonder if his "touch" was failing him."
"I...okay...." Maggie said, clearing her throat.
"Thank you, Maggie," a voice said from the other side of the biobed. "I can take it from here."
"Yes, Doctor," Maggie said, handing her tricorder over to Nicole.
"Hello again, Mister Logan," Nicole said, looking at him like a specimen on her biobed.
"Doctor, a pleasure." The way she looked at him, made him feel like she wants to dissect him here and now. "I already had a physical, Doctor, why another one?"
"Because as much as the CMO on the Journey may be competent, that doctor isn't responsible for the safety and well being of this crew; I am." She flipped her tricorder open and began scanning him. "I take the well-being of these people very seriously."
"Okay, good reason." Zack laid back and relaxed. And he was planning to try to talk to Maggie again before he left sickbay.
Nicole followed his gaze. "A preference for blondes?" she said, keeping her voice casual.
"Blondes, brunettes and redheads, Doctor. This part of my psych profile?" he smiled at her.
"Perhaps," Nicole said. "But existentialist obsessions aren't my area, that's more Doctor Sanders." She closed her tricorder and put her fingers on his throat, probing gently. "Is it your goal to sleep with every woman on board?"
"That would prove difficult, Doctor, since many of the women on board are either married, engaged or seeing someone." Zack laid still.
"I didn't ask if the goal was achievable," Nicole said, somewhat coldly. "I asked if that was your goal." She stepped back and folded her arms.
"Sounds like a personal question, Doctor," Zack responded coldly.
"It is," she said. "I want to know what your intentions are, because, as I said, the well-being of this crew is my responsibility. I don't know you, I realize that, but what I'm seeing worries me."
"Intentions, Doctor?" Zack sat up. "Are you the mother to the female crew on the ship, Doctor? If I offer a woman a good time, treat them kind, is that any concern of yours, Doctor?"
"Worse," she said, her voice softening. "I'm the big sister of one, and I don't want her hurt by your wandering eyes."
"My intent is to show a woman some affection...some romance...if things don't work out, then I ease off. Does that make you feel better, Doctor?"
Nicole's eyebrows shot up. She honestly hadn't considered he was that far off the mark. "Sex isn't romance, Lieutenant," she said. "Sex is something intimate and personal that comes after romance." She shook her head, shocked and almost feeling bad for him, instead of Penny. "You're scans are fine, Lieutenant," she said finally. "You're free to go." She turned away and didn't look back, heading to her office.
"Thanks, Doc." Zack got up and headed to the door, looking for Maggie on his way out.
Zack saw Maggie sitting at a desk and walked over to her. "Maggie. I'm sorry if I came on too strong or if I embarrassed you."
Maggie half turned. "Apology accepted," she said. "I'd be careful around here though. Doctor Anderson's....testy." She turned and looked at him. "And a suggestion? Don't tell someone to call you if the relationship doesn't work out. It's...not as attractive as you think it is." She gave him a smile and a sad shrug.
"Suggestion received and acknowledged." Zack gave her a smile and a salute, then left sickbay and walked down the hall and stopped and leaned against the wall. He figured he had 2 choices.....transfer or either go to the bar and get drunk, or hit the gym and do a long workout.
He choose the gym.
