Summary
Following the Fall of the Terran Empire at the hands of the united Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, a fleet of survivors successfully managed to evade capture and execution to join forces under the command of Admiral Jason Cartwright, former Commanding Officer of the Imperial Intelligence Service whose advice had been ignored by Commander-in-Chief of the Empire, Spock.
Under constant attack and pursuit by Klingon-Cardassian forces, Admiral Cartwright found a way to take his Fleet to a place where the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance could not follow crossed from their own universe, into the Mirror. Where an alliance of worlds calling itself “The Federation” held power and where he hoped, he could find a section of the galaxy to rebuild what has been lost.
The Crossing brought the Imperial Fleet into a different dimension. When the Imperial Fleet made the Crossing, the year was 2375 for them. Now 14 years later, having created a stronghold for the New Empire locates deep in within the Delta Quadrant, the incursion of the Federation into the Delta Quadrant has begun to push too close. The time for preparation is over. The time for action is at hand.
Under the guidance of Dr. Quincey Jones, a brilliant paleomicrobiologist unfettered by ideas of morality, a team of virologists have created a deadly virus. Cross-bred with a sample strain from their own dimension.. it has the potential to devastate civilian and military populations galaxy wide. Dr. Jones specially designed the virus giving humans from HIS universe a natural immunity, and genetically modified the virus to prevent mutation which could allow it to infect a human from their home. The idea is to weaken the Federation and its allied worlds, allowing the Admiral to establish the New Empire. And Jones is determined that nothing will stand in their way.
With the Federation continuing to push further into the Delta Quadrant, Jones is now ready to test his virus.. and only needs a suitable target for the first test. Deciding on a controlled test, Cartwright orders his second in command, Captain Katya Ivanov to track Federation and local shipping traffic and select a ship with a suitable mix of human and alien passengers and crew for the first test of the virus’ potential.
