Mission: Nibiru
Location: Earth 2

OOC: This thread will cover the discoveries inside the ruins of the temple complex.

Again, everyone is tagged so that we can keep things in sync. Only post to the thread where your character is actively working.

"And if we were to adjust the oxygen recycling program to these specifications," Doctor Meldor said, keeping pace with the Captain, "we could improve the air quality with only a minor change in efficiency." He went through his padd, making sure she was hearing every detail. It wasn't easy, given the erratic path she was taking. He'd had to stumble in a new direction a few times to keep up with her, but he'd managed to avoid losing her.

It took about 20 minutes to walk from the base camp site to the temple complex. The Captain released the small snake into a copse of trees along the way, setting the animal free gently. She had no intention of taking it from its home. Reaching the temple complex, the work team sent ahead by Torres to inspect the entrance and tunnels leading into the massive pyramid for structural integrity were almost done. Kennit found a spot to sit, sipping cold water while the Chief Engineer went to speak with the crew chief.

Walker went with this team because of his degrees. He found the inside painting and markings to be most interesting.

Upon Torres' return "Senior Chief Argyle says everything is good to go." he told the Captain. "In fact the XO is already inside." he added.

“Without waiting for it to be cleared first?” She asked. “Well..if anything with sharp teeth and claws crawled in there he’ll find it first.”

Doctor Meldor puffed nervously. "I might recommend we have security enter first, and then conduct an air quality check to ensure there aren't any dangerous microbes or anything inside. We should also--" he was cut off as the Captain brushed past him dismissively and he puffed again in frustration, following the team in.

Entering the temple, the Captain headed back down the tunnel where they’d been before. The ancient paintings on the walls were faded and chipped, the colors only a shadow of their original brilliance. Carrying a tricorder, she said “Energy signature is being picked up now. Same level as before, doesn’t appear to have changed. We can’t head down to the lower levels until we can determine that the tunnels and passageway is safe, are the sensor drones ready to go?”

Miguel nodded as he put the case down and opened it revealing seven small spheres. "Remember these are just prototypes." he said as he then opened his tricorder and tapped in a few commands and activated the small devices and sent them into the tunnels.

Walker heard a chattering noise and moved into another chamber, tricorder out. He scanned the chamber and turned on his headlamp and backed out slowly. He put up disks around the chamber entrance. He activated them with his tricorder. They emitted a force field. "Nope." They spiders and scarabs wacked the force field. He started walking towards the entrance. He walked to the Captain, "Found predators, sort of." The force field was getting data on them as they hit it. "Spiders. Very large spiders with fast acting necrotic venom." Walker had killed things before, much larger things than spiders, but everyone has something irrational they aren't fond of.

Meldor scanned them. "Anti-venom would be effective, but with the speed of the spread of necrotic tissue, it would be difficult to administer. We should avoid all contact." He glanced at his nurse. "Prepare two hyposprays, just in case."

"Yes, Doctor," Nurse Carson said.

Meldor scanned the rest of the chamber and inhaled, then exhaled. "Air quality is not as poor as would be expected. There may be a second exit that is allowing fresh air to travel through as barometric pressure changes outside."

Walker looked at him, "In a region called The Middle East on Earth, exists one of the few types of colonial spiders. These look like those. Genetically, they are similar to a scorpion. They sneak into your bed or bed roll. They bite you with a numbing agent. The necrotic venom starts to work. They drink your wound as it melts away."

"So how do we prevent them from getting in to the bed rolls? It seems like that would be a good idea to prevent them from getting in if that is the case. Is there anything that we can synthesize that we could use to spray or something?" Arashi asked as he watched for creatures and such that might attack them.

"Captain," Doctor Meldor said. "May I suggest using genetic scans to create a retardant spray? It may help if you plan on spending the night here to continue studying the ruins. I have several suggestions as to how we can deploy it for maximum efficiency."

Listening to the conversation, the Captain made her mind up on the spot: she was going to return to the ship to sleep at the end of the day. “It may not be safe to remain on the surface during the night hours. Many of the native life forms may well be nocturnal hunters. That decision hasn’t been made as of yet. Keep an eye out, and let’s go. That energy signature is somewhere down this tunnel.”

It took nearly an hour of careful progress as the exploration team, lead by Cmdr. Torres and Captain Kennit made their way into the dark heart of the alien pyramid. Careful scans were taken prior to moving into the tunnels, both for security and safety reasons as well as to fully document, in great and exacting detail, the condition of the tunnels and the ornate hieroglyphs which covered the dark, dense, basalt like stone from which the entire complex had been made.

Now, some 50 meters beneath the massive pyramid the exploration team found themselves facing a wall. The energy source was somewhere on the other side of that wall. Scans indicated a large chamber on the other side, but no apparent means of access. Initial scans indicated there was a door or hatch, located in the center of the wall however it was not apparent to the naked eye, nor was there any obvious control mechanism to open it. The Captain was unwilling to allow the stone wall to be damaged by breaking through it’s surface, as doing so would damage the hieroglyphs which covered it’s surface even here.

Stifling her obvious impatience, the Captain had shifted her restless energy to studying the carvings on the walls here, while allowing Cmdr Torres to study the puzzle of how to open the hidden door granting access into the chamber beyond.

The writing was .. impossible. Sumerian cuneiform, here? On a planet on the other side of the galaxy from Earth? It wasn’t possible. But at the same time, the data was there staring her in the face, and had been since they’d arrived on this astonishing, impossible world. Another anomaly which she checked, verified, and then rechecked again. The carvings weren’t carvings. Each and every line, curl and image was exactly 7mm deep. A precision that could not have been accomplished by hand. It was as if the writing was carved with a laser, guided by precisely set dimensions..

What the hell had they stumbled onto ?

Miguel eyes were on his tricorder, reviewing the data that the drones were collecting, and not so much on the carvings that the Captain was looking at. Specifically he was looking at the data from the drone he had dubbed Doc, which was directly in front of what they had assumed was a door. He summoned the other drones that had been scanning other tunnels and waited until all seven, the last being Sleepy, were in front of the door. He continued to tap away commands and watched as the drones positioned themselves at various points. "I figured out why we haven't found a way through this door yet..." he said out loud. But not giving anyone a chance to ask the obvious question he just went ahead and answered it. "it isn't a door. It's actually some sort of force field and hologram combination. He placed a hand on it to show that it was solid. Then after a few moments and several taps of commands into his tricorder he reached out again at the door and his hand went through it. "I used the dwarfs to create an interference pattern in field. As you can see the door is now passable, even the image of it is still in place."

The Captain didn’t respond until he cleared his throat and got her attention, she had been intently studying a large panel of enshrined cuneiform symbols, almost scowling at what she was seeing. After a moment of mental playback, she looked at the holographic door and if possible, frowned even more. “Send a drone through first, make certain it’s able to pass back through to this side.” She ordered. “I don’t want someone going in there and getting stuck.”

T'Mira had been silent through most of it. She'd been collecting data on anything and everything. Some of it wold go to science and some to the intel files that she had with her She was trying to take everything in. It was luck that she was assigned to this group. "This is fascinating." She said to nobody in particular.

After a few moments to enter the correct sequence of commands, one of the drones slipped forward and passed through the holographic entrance-way. It sent back a visual feed, displayed on a data PaDD screen. Inside the chamber beyond was what looked like a control center. Computer displays scrolled information unrecognizable to their systems, a holographic display of the planet dominated the center of the room, every detail right down to the holographic representation of the USS Victory in orbit.

"Okay, the last thing on my list of things to see in an ancient temple would be what looks like a control center of an advanced race." Torres commented as he looked through the display on his PADD.

"Is the drone able to return back to our location here in the corridor? she asked him. As much as she wanted to pass through the holographic door and get a look at the equipment inside, she wasn't taking any chances. Not yet anyway.

He shook his head as he tapped in some commands. Then after a moment he got a smile on his face and tapped some more commands in. Three of the drones came through and paused on their side of the doorway. Then another came through and went back into the control. Back and forth the drone went as if it were dancing between the door's archway. "Yeah I think that's proof we can go through and come back." he commented.

T'Mira walked closer to the doorway. "Shall we go through then? The area, as humans say, will not study itself."

Walker looked at the walls, "Some of this looks like Ogham. Some looks like Cuneiform." He tried to translate the Ogham from memory. "This doesn't translate smoothly at all. My family might pass down a different dialect. Those communication boosters set up?"

Stepping into the chamber, an internal sensor activated as they arrived and several holographic displays came alive across the room, each one with a different data stream. The Captain stopped on her tracks, turning in a circle staring at what was being shown.

“Ohhhh no no no..what the hell..” she breathed softly.
f
While much of the data was undecipherable, some of the displays were graphic images, 3-D displays which she did recognize. “All the way back in the 21st century..” she said.

“Maxim Makukov from the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute in Almaty, Kazakhstan, claims to have discovered an “intelligent-like signal” that is encoded into our genetic material. Although even back then, he admitted that their theory was unusual, Makukov and his mentor, mathematician Vladmir shCherbak, believed that they had found conclusive evidence that a signature was hidden in human genetic code.”

“Panspermia, the process in which life was transferred from one planet to another. Some biologists in the 20th and 21st believed that life on Earth began when an asteroid collided with Mars, causing the supposedly once microbial-full soil to be flung Earthbound. Makukov believed that life on Earth was a result of “direct panspermia” – something was intentionally sent Earth to kickstart life. By analysing the genetic code – which is the set of rules which translate DNA into proteins and does not alter as it is passed down through generations – they note that the number 37 crops up several times. One instance is that the mass of the molecular core shared by all 20 amino acids is 74 – which is 37 doubled.”

Staring intently at the display, she continued “Another is in ‘Rumer’s transformation’. Yuri Rumer first identified in 1966 that the genetic code can be divided equally in half, with one half being “whole family” codons – a codon being three structural units within DNA – and the other half being “split family”, which do not have the AC code, an amino acid that is used to build proteins. There are a total of 28 codons which have a total atomic mass of 1665 and a combined side chain atomic mass of 703 – both of which are multiples of 37.
The scientists have a total of nine examples in their research paper published in Icarus, where they state that the chances of the number 37 appearing this many times by random in the genetic code in a staggering one in 10 trillion. Those patterns that were being described were not simply non-random.“

”The thing is, that same pattern can be found inthe DNA of El Aurian people. It was also found on the DNA of Vulcans. Of Klingons. Andorian. Betazoid. Xindi. Kazon. It was noted by the Borg within the DNA of the civilizations assimilated into the Collective. Even the Undine... its why we can interbreed with each other..” she added.

Over, and over, and over that pattern was found.

And now. Staring at the data scrolling on the holographic display on the screen before her, she saw it again. That same pattern.. repeating itself in a data stream she couldn’t make sense of, though her implants and the Borg technology in her brain easily and immediately identified the repeating pattern for what it was. Other displays clearly flashed images of the spiral DNA helix, changing as the data scrolled.

The Captain stood there, her expression one of shocked disbelief. “This...what the hell is this.. this is...some sort of monitor.. that’s another entire star system there... and that.. that looks like it’s another galaxy the composition of the stars is all wrong..”

She looked at Torres, “Lock this down. Classified as of now no unauthorized personnel.”

"It may take me awhile to figure out how to do that... after all this is a new language to me." he told her as he scanned the computers. "What's wrong what did you figure out?" he asked.

“Kennit to Anderson. I need you here. Now. Just you!”

"On my way," Nicole said, then closed the channel.

Doctor Meldor was about to suggest a course of action, but a glance from the Captain silenced him. He quietly ducked out when she turned to the Chief Engineer and headed back to the entrance to guide Doctor Anderson once she arrived.

Then, shooting a look of pure aggravation at the Chief Engineer she activated her comm badge again and said “Kennit to Taggart. I want the area around the pyramid complex locked down. Absolutely no unauthorized personnel in without my express permission. I need Dr Anderson here. Let her through when she arrived. No one else is that clear?”

Standing outside of the main temple as the others went inside, AJ's hand tightened around the grip of his rifle when he heard the Captain's voice over the bone-conducted audio- it was almost like she was in his head. "Read you Lima Charlie, Command. Sierra Romeo, Out." he said, clicking off his communicator before switching to the team wide channel. "Team Two, this is Sierra One, assume a defensive perimeter. No unauthorized presence. Team One, sweep the temple complex and set up for Rapid Response Force detail. Sierra Two, organize a pickup for Doctor Anderson, double time!" he said quickly, breaking into a jog along the perimeter and flicking the safety switch on his rifle.

Turning back to Torres and the others present, Kennit pointed at the central holographic display. “That’s here. This station is monitoring this planet. It even has our ship displayed now in orbit.” She crossed to a nearby console. “This is displaying ... something. It’s related to this world, that indicator there it’s marking this planets orbital position around its star but this one, and this one..”. She said as she paced the chamber, pointing as she spoke. “These are displaying data from other worlds. THERE! You see? That is orbital data but that world is 6th in position and this one is third. There’s two stars, it’s a binary system. And they all are flashing DNA sequences and there’s a pattern here, and here, and here and it was on the carved panels in the passageway leading us here. Thirty seven.. over and over thirty-seven..”

Miguel let out a deep breath. "Alright I'll get to work on it." he told her and went back to scanning. Once the tricorder had the information to translate he'll be able to reconfigure the controls to standard, or at the very least he'll have the tricorder translate for him.

Nicole ran into the transporter room and hopped up on the transporter pad. "Beam me to the Captain's location," she said.

"Sorry, Doctor," the transporter chief said. "We had to reestablish orbit over the base. Protocol. They're arranging a shuttle for you."

"Lovely, beam me down, then," Nicole said. A moment later she was on the ground in front of the medical tent.

"Doctor," Doctor P'k'ala said by way of greeting. "We heard there were injuries."

"They've been beamed aboard. There wasn't time to bring them here," Nicole said. "But keep alert, we may get more." She nodded to Bryanna. "Just so you know," she said, quietly, "Logan took a bit of a blow, but he's perfectly fine and resting comfortably. I'll make sure you can see him when we beam back."

Bryanna had tears in her eyes. "I don't know if I can live without him...if anything happens to him...."

"I promise, he's fine," Nicole said, reassuringly. She looked up as AJ ran over. "Are you my ride?"

A sly smile crossed his lips. "Well, sort of. You were supposed to take a shuttle down but since you're here, it might help to get us some wheels-" he said, ripping the velcro from his wrist computer and making a few quick taps. "-here we go." he said nonchalantly and tapped the screen twice. Two quick chirps echoed from a nearby tent and two incandescent lights pierced the darkness as a small four-wheeled, all-terrain vehicle silently made its way toward them, gaining speed and seemingly about to hit them. AJ quickly extended his hand as if to silently command the machine to stop. As he did, the machine slowed and braked, stopping right in front of AJ and Nicole.

Motioning to it with a flourish, AJ's smile grew. "Your chariot awaits, madam." he said, climbing onto the front of the saddle.

Nicole smirked. "Show off," she said, jumping on behind him, her bag in hand. "Let's get going."

AJ reached down to a small compartment and handed her a helmet. "Safety first. You also might want to hold on to me." he said.

Nicole fitted the helmet over her head and wrapped her arm around his waist, leaning against him as he twisted the throttle as far as it could go, causing them to shoot forward, their surroundings becoming a blur of dark brown and small bits of green.

Nicole's grip tightened considerably. "Please tell me you've done this before," she shouted, somewhat nervous.

AJ chuckled. "I used to ride these all the time when I was a kid and a few times in training- the instructors could never keep up with me in the simulations." he said, concentrating to avoid hitting any awkwardly placed rocks. Turning sharply to avoid a small desert shrub, the vehicle's two left wheels briefly left the ground as they drifted slightly. The two were jostled as the vehicle hit the ground again and jolted forward again.

Nicole willed her stomach to stay down and held AJ tightly. "Yeah, I was afraid of that," she said. "Try not to show off too much, dear," she said, pressing against him as he rounded another corner.

Blessedly, they stayed upright the entire trip and as he brought them to a halt by the temple, she took an extra second before she finally let go and removed her safety gear. "Well," she said, smoothing her uniform. "Thank you for the ride. I should find the Captain."

Footsteps echoed in the hall and Nicole appeared, looking around. "Captain?" she said. She'd followed Meldor's directions after sending him back to base, but she didn't see any control room nearby.

Walker walked over to the entrance to the room. He reached out and grabbed Nicole by the shoulder and pulled her through. "Welcome to the party."

Nicole let out a small scream of shock and turned on him, eyes blazing red and fangs about to come out when she realized who it was. She drew herself up and blinked a few times, then her ice-blue eyes bored into him. "Don't scare me like that!" She looked around at their surroundings in shock. "Wow....what....is this?"

Grinning, he answered, "Don't do that. Time to work." Walker continued looking as well and found other writing, "This appears to be proto-Vulcan." Walker looked at it, "Enterprise Report under Picard."

He looked back to the Captain. "I read the 21st century article. It has been a while since my genetics course at the Academy. I got a C+. Please elaborate Captain."

Kennit shot a scowl in the General direction of her XO, the turned her attention to the doctors. Swiftly she repeated her earlier explanation, pointing out the various holographic displays as she spoke. Finishing with “This isn’t the first time data like this has been found, it is the first time something this detailed and with this level of technology has been discovered. I need you to look at the DNA displays..”

Nicole approached the monitors slowly, looking over the data. "Fascinating," she said. "Give me a few minutes." She pulled out her tricorder and began tapping it as she stared at the readouts. "Vi lau tor nash," she said to herself in awe, eyes widening at the amount of data.

"Got it!" Miguel called out and after tapping a few of the alien controls the screens all changed at least the language changed to Federation standard. Even the panels had changed to something that any Starfleet officer could read. That's when he started to do as previously ordered and began to lock it down.

No longer relying on just the data to interpret, Nicole's fingers flew over the console, pulling up as much of the research as she could. "T'nash-veh Oekon,," she said, using an archaic, but pronounced exclamation.

Walker was trying to read the Ogham, using his padd to make notes while he translated, "In the beginning was the mother and the hunter. From them came the Gods, the first Gods, the Forgotten Gods. The Forgotten Gods seeded the peoples of Earths." He made a grunting noise. His human half was Norse and Irish. His family still passed the old languages down. He knew all of the languages of his blood. He looked over at the Proto Vulcan and Old Klingon. Then he looked at the Captain, "I think these all say the same thing."

Speaking softly, the Captain answered. “I don’t think that is what you believe it to be Mr. Walker. This is not unfamiliar to me. The Borg have discovered installations similar to this one in remote locations of the Delta Quadrant which no Federation ship has visited. The Collective was unable to identify the originators of this technology.”

"If I didn't know any better," Nicole said, scrolling through more DNA samples. "I'd say they were trying to find the Ancients. They seem to be following a similar DNA trail."

Miguel was listening to everything the others were talking about as he continued to lock the computers down. As he was working on that he was also recording information on his tricorder and skimming it. When he found some interesting things. "Captain I know why we've been having problems scanning the structure from a distance." he said and then called up what looked like an MSD of the pyramid. He then went to a meteorological display. "This place is loaded with gold."

"What's the metallurgical benefit of that?" Nicole said. "Would it amplify their scans? Or just as a natural barrier to our scans?"

"Not really a barrier. You see gold refracts infrared. And most of the time that's what our tricordors are using to scan. But when we perform multi-spectral or even just change the wave-length we get more information. From what I can see from this information they were using the gold not only to interfere with most scans, but they were using the gold as an insulator of sorts." Miguel explained.

“Gold?” the Captain echoed. “That’s unusual. Is it a natural component of the stones used to build this structure or was it smelted and placed into position during construction?”

A voice came over Comms, it was a young Ensign. "Victory to Captain. Be advised: Doctor King just rode a t-Rex like it was a rodeo." The young ensign didn't know what was relevant. "He wanted it to be known he was on it's back for 10.2 seconds."

Walker answered. "Victory, is he alive?" He mouthed at the Captain, "10.2 seconds?" He had to be a Commander, but his human family was Texas Born with Norse and Irish blood.

Ensign Canne answered quickly. "Yes, Sir, he is alive and has been transported to the base medical tent. Doctor P'k'ala says he is in rough shape, but he is stable."

“He what...” the Captain said. “No don’t answer. Advise Medical to keep the doctor posted on his condition. Kennit out.”

Then, looking first at Walker and then to the doctor, she said, “I am going to try and not break him too badly when we return to the ship.”

"Good, that will save some for me," Nicole growled, comparing another set of DNA scans.

She then looked back toward Torres. “Mr Torres, Still waiting for an answer to my question about the gold.”

Miguel blinked a couple of times. The thought of someone bronco busting a T-Rex had distracted his train of thought. "To answer your question... no it's not natural. The placement of the gold is too perfect." he answered.

"So is this DNA," Nicole said. "The specimens they have here are highlighting key factors in a series of 'whole family' codons. They're attempting to cross-reference various codon combinations, and all of them seem to focus around the number thirty-seven." She went over her notes again. "Some of these sequences look familiar. I can't put my finger on it." She turned around. "Captain, do you--" she stopped as it clicked. "You," she said. "Captain," she paused, trying to maintain some level confidentiality, "am I actually seeing what I think I'm seeing?"

Kennit looked at the display, then locked eyes with the Doctor. She didn’t speak. She didn’t need to. The sequence there on the display was unmistakable. Though the display showed systems status of the complex in which they stood, many of the parameters were a match to the neurological implants which were bonded into her body, merged into muscle, nerve clusters and bone. Rhea had realized it almost immediately. It was why she’d called for the Doctor.

The Borg had encountered a much larger outpost like this once, nearly 80 years ago. Of the original builders there had been no sign, no data found to identify the long vanished species but the assimilated technology had been used to strengthen the regeneration systems of Cube ships. To increase the speed of computer systems and weapons. And, it had been used to attempt to create a stronger, faster Drone. Millions of attempts at using the modified nanite technology had ended in failure. Drones terminating over and over.

Until her. Something in her unique DNA, the mix of human and El Aurian DNA sequencing had worked, her body accepting the fusion of Borg and flesh to create a Queen who could not, would not be controlled by the Hive.

"If the Collective has any idea this is here," Nicole said, quietly, "we're in a lot of trouble. Then again, how long has this been here, undetected?"

"The t-rex," Walker mused.

Nicole and the captain turned, the doctor giving him a raised eyebrow.

He elaborated. "The Borg may have thought this planet wasn't sophisticated enough, or the TRex was too dangerous?"

Nicole scowled at his pointed ears. "The Borg aren't beyond stripping a primitive planet of resources," she said. "And they would vaporize a t-rex easily. My guess is, they haven't noticed this particular planet. Hopefully it stays that way."

The look on his face, "There are records of the Borg ignoring planets and people due to being too primitive. If there is a living species threat, they usually flag it and return later with a bigger force or different artillery.

It would have to be the Born. T'Mira wasn't fond of them nor their cousins. She looked at the captain. "Captain, with your permission I would like to get all this for Starfleet Intel purposes. They team at SFI could be of assistance with all this." She gestured around.

"Not to mention a few unmentioned Sections," Nicole said under her breath. "This isn't something that should be going over subspace."

After a moment, the Captain said, “Mr. Torres. I want the data in this computer downloaded to a level alpha quarantine computer storage device. After which, I want explosive devices set and this chamber destroyed. The debris will then be collected and destroyed. I don’t want anything, and I mean.. anything left.”

"Already working on the downloading Captain." He told her. "Once the downloading is done I'll go see if we have the right demo gear to vaporize everything down here." he added.

Nicole set her tricorder to record and began downloading as many of the medical files as she could.

Physically unhappy about vaporizing this site without getting teams here to look at it, but Walker understood and kept his composure. He had done jobs like this before. It never became easier. "See if we can get a 3D scan if every chamber."

"That shouldn't be hard. Plus the fact that the Captain only wants what's in this room destroyed, I'm sure I can come up with a way to slag everything in here without effecting the other rooms." Miguel said as he kept an eye on the tricorder as it continued to download the information from the computers.

Arashi waited for someone to bring back the explosives. He was a bit apprehensive about destroying something like this but if it came down to it, he would do what he was told. He scanned the perimeter to make sure that no one was trying to sneak up on them. Whatever was being said among the captain and the rest was all foreign to him so he just stuck to the job that he knew how to do.

“Get it done. I want this complex gone as soon as possible.” Kennit said.

"Alright that's the last of the data it's now been copied." Torres said as he started to move around the room scanning it. "Mister Tanaka..." Miguel called out as he made his way to him. "We're going to need 0.454 kilograms of G9 explosives. Once you get them these are the points you will need place them so we can destroy this room without damaging any of the others." Miguel said as transferred the information to Arashi's tricorder.

"Roger that." He said and got the explosives. He placed the .454 KG of G9 explosives where the tricorder was showing him, being very careful with the explosives and he set the trigger to Torres's tricorder. He was about finished when he spoke. "Last charge armed and ready, sir." He said to Torres. "The detonation will be triggered by your tricorder, when you are ready." As he finished speaking, he had armed the last explosive and stepped away carefully.

"Alright get yourself and anyone in your team out of the structure for now." Miguel said with a nod as he moved over to where the XO and Captain were standing. "We're ready to go. We should have everyone get out of the structure just in case my calculations were wrong." he told them.

Tapping his comm, "Ladies and Gentlemen, clear this structure. Move it. I want a minimum of 50 meters clearance." He looked at Torres to see if that was good enough based on math.

Nicole grabbed all her things and put them in her bag quickly, then stood and headed for the exit.

Torres nodded and then looked at the Captain waiting for her to give the order. "Once we blew the chamber I'll send the drones in and some of my structural engineers in to determine the safety for everyone else." he told them.

“Make sure everyone is out of here and then blow it.” She said. “The only thing I want to know is that there’s nothing left which can be salvaged. The beings who created this..whoever they were.. they were not a friendly race. Be thankful they are gone and pray to whatever Gods you may worship they do not return.”

Answering her, "At least one of my Gods would kick my ass for this." Ir wasn't the first time he had done, allowed done, or participated in that at least one of his Gods would kick his ass for.

Tapping his comm, Walker went to sweeping the temple, "Search groups check in. If you aren't fifty meters away, you need to get there, yesterday."

Arashi gathered the scientists that he saw. "Let's move people! No more time for study!" He said and got the scientists to the recommended safe distance. "We are clear. Detonate when ready."

On the search, he found one last scientist, "I said out yesterday." The scientist sealed a small containment pod, "Really? With the spider? Move it. Move it."

He tapped his comm, "Is anyone else in the Temple? Check in now." He made his way out of the Temple, spinning and punching the stone of the entrance. The Captain knew what his major at the Academy was. He would also follow orders. Making his way to the fifty meter line, "Is everyone here?"

The Captain visually verified that everyone was out, “We are clear.”

With the word clearly given, Torres sent the signal from his tricorder. A few moments later he heard to muffled explosion. He then tapped in a few commands and sent his drones back into the room. Once the drones sent back the information that the structural integrity of the chambers was maintained, he and a group of engineers entered to visually check the tunnels. When he and the team were satisfied that it would be safe they sent word back to the Captain and the XO. While that messengers made there way, Torres went to the chamber where they had found those computers. He entered the room, which looked quite literally as if a bomb had gone off inside. The hologram / force field that used to be in the door way was now gone and he was able to just walk right in and saw that his orders were fulfilled to the letter.

“I want the rubble cleared and disintegrated. Leave nothing and I mean..nothing... is that clear?” the Captain ordered.

"Aye." he told her as he looked around. There really wasn't much left of the place, except the walls. But he'd get a crew in to clean up what was left and to make sure that the place was as clean as she wanted.

As soon as the chamber debris had been destroyed, Kennit wanted her teams off the surface. Retreating back to the shuttle, she settled down in the cockpit and began to compose a level alpha encrypted message to Admiral Bennet. Section 31 needed to be aware that another of the alien installations had been found, and destroyed per protocol. She did not however, tell h I’m that they had discovered a complete version of the stellar map which was present in every installation found, and that using Victory’s sensors she’d identified not only the sector, but a star system. One which was inhabited, with orbital platforms and starships within the system.

She wanted a look at it first.

Walking in quietly behind her, "You know what my major was at the Academy." He had blood on his knuckles from punching the wall. "You have seen the majority of my personnel jacket, if not all of it. I understand the reasoning for this." He didn't have to say it, that destroying historical monuments hurt him, but he would follow orders, even under non spoken protest.

"You have no idea.." Kennit said, turning to look at her First Officer with dark eyes. "Whoever they are, whatever they are.. nothing good will come from allowing anyone to study the technology in there. The Borg have encountered several installations like this, and have never been able to identify who built them, or why. Starfleet has as well. And there are standing orders for how to handle it. We are following those orders. And I hope to God we never encounter the beings who put this here. We won't survive it. We are however, going to follow that star chart which is still in there, on the wall. Victory launched a warp-probe, and followed those coordinates. There's a star system there.. with ships and orbital facilities. We're going to go take a look. Because we have to."

Looking at her, "Threat is the likelihood. I understand the orders to prevent threats." He never said he wouldn't follow orders. He hoped she understood that.

“Let’s get things wrapped up here. Contact the other away teams and inform them they need to be back aboard the Victory in twelve hours. We will be breaking orbit and departing in 16 hours.” she told him. “Make it clear, we won’t be waiting for stragglers.”
