Mission: Dīvide et Impera ~ Chapter One: Sending Out An S.O.S
Location: Shuttlebay
Timeline: After Briefing

Penny walked quickly into the shuttle bay, put her fingers to her lips and let out a shrill whistle. Heads turned as she jumped up on a landing platform. "Davenport! Carmello! Need you up front!"

The two singled-out crewmen pulled themselves away from the shuttle they'd been working on as the others turned back to their duties, keeping one ear out in case they were called too.

"What's up, boss?" Carmello said.

"I need three pilots for escort duty," Penny said.

"Shuttles are all a-go and can be launched any time," Davenport said.

"No, this time you get to fly something bigger. Need each of you to take a shift on that trading ship we have in tow. Captain wants it flying alongside us for the remainder of the trip."

"We'll need a third," Davenport said, "unless you want us working overtime."

"Nah, we can't afford to pay you that," Penny quipped. "I'll leave word for Grayson; he's on third shift."

"Any surprises we should be aware of?" Davenport said.

"Evidently they found contraband on board, so who knows what else he's souped up on that thing. Might want to give the engines a diagnostic while you're over there," Penny said. "I'll meet you over there in 15 minutes."

"Aye, Ma'am," the two pilots said, grabbing their gear to stow as Penny walked out.

Fifteen minutes later they were gathered on the bridge of the smuggler's ship, looking at the controls.

"This thing flies?" Davenport said.

"Evidently," Penny said. "If you either have four arms or love grabbing random levers." She sat down in the pilot's chair and pressed a few buttons experimentally. "All right, so he's divided the piloting and navigation controls and uses both hands equally," she said, rapidly figuring out the controls. "It's a fighter-pilot configuration. Primary controls are here," she indicated the panel to the right. "And tactical on the left. We can rearrange them." She tapped the boards and brought the boards to Starfleet Standard and stood up. "All right, keep the ship on pace with the Victory and don't try anything fancy. Run an engine diagnostic while you're at it and we'll get it to the station in no time."

"Dibs," Markus said, dropping into the pilot's chair. He looked back at Carmello and grinned. "You can go wake up Grayson."

Carmellow shrugged and stepped behind Penny. "After you," he said, gesturing to the door.

Penny walked out and Carmello followed, leaving Markus alone to play.
