Mission:
All this has happened before...
Location: Sickbay
Nicole managed to pull herself fully away from the conversation by the Captain's biobed and turned her attention to Yarin. He still had the incredibly disturbing grin on his face which looked like it must be painful, given that his muscles didn't normally move that way. She shook an image out of her head and picked up her tricorder. "What can I do for you Mister Yarin?"
I believe a require a muscle relaxant and some intravenous nutrients as I have not been able to eat for several days, Yarin said.
Nicole blinked and immediately scanned him. "Why the hell didn't you come to me sooner?" She said, pushing him back to lie down on the biobed.
Yarin blinked all six eyes slowly back at her incredulously. I would have missed an opportunity to study the effects of malnutrition on my own body, he said, as she pressed a hypo against his left upper arm, then took a blood sample. A thin trickle of clear blood came out but then quickly turned dark red in the presence of the oxygenated air of the ship.
"The effects," she said, angrily, "are you're lucky to be standing right now." She reprogrammed her hypospray again, injecting him with more supplements. "If I ever find out you did something that stupid again--"
"Woah, Penny said, walking up to the biobed and gawking at Yarin's smile. "Creepy look, brah," she said, examining him with undisguised curiosity. She then looked up and smiled at Nicole, ignoring the Doctor's scowl. "cortical inhibitor?" she guessed, grabbing the instrument and handing it to Nicole like a normal nurse.
Nicole took the inhibitor and placed it on Yarin's head as Penny flicked her wrist and began waving her wand over him again, looking at the readings, then scanning again.
"All right, Yarin," Nicole said, "your muscles have been cramped out of position for so long, they have frozen in place. You have officially vindicated centuries of human mothers. These inhibitors will help prevent your brain's muscle control from holding the pose and I'll give you a muscle relaxant to help your face." She held out her hand and Penny slapped a hypo into it smartly.
Nicole pressed the hypo to his face and his grin began to melt off, returning his face to normal. Nicole scanned him again and adjusted the inhibitor. "Do not," she said dangerously, looking at each pair of eyes in succession, "remove, alter, or in any other way interfere with this treatment, or you'll be conducting your scientific observation strapped to a biobed. Do I make myself clear?"
Yarin stood up to his full height looking down at the doctor. He put his arm on her shoulder applying just enough pressure to be mildly painful. Do not threaten me Human he said directly into her mind never breaking eye contact. He than left the room without saying a word.
Nicole huffed and folded her arms. "Who's he calling human?" she groused.
"Okay...." Penny said slowly, "wanna clue me in?"
Nicole rounded on her and snarled quietly. "Would you care to clue me in as to what you're doing here?"
"Chill, cousin," Penny said. "I'm here to fly the ship, that's all. As for the Doc?" She shrugged. "Have to ask her."
"I intend to," Nicole said, turning and walking quickly out of Sickbay.
