Mission:
Divide et Impera ~ Chapter 2: Heralding the Chase
Location: Alien Station
[USS Victory - Bridge]
"Captain," Penny said, "we're approaching the station."
Exiting from her Ready Room a moment later, the Captain said “Put it on-screen.”
As the station appeared on screen, Penny whistled. "Cool," she said. "Hodgepodge style."
The station was a massive port with ships everywhere and no easy-to-spot "front." It looked as if it had been built, rebuilt, retrofitted and tacked on for the last few centuries. Several of the smaller ships got out of their way, and a few almost seemed to slink into the shadows.
"I'd dock us, but I'd be afraid we'd catch something," Penny said, bringing them around the side of the station to a relatively light area of traffic, trying to find the Caroline.
“Now now..” Kennit murmured. “Behave yourself..”
"The phrase, 'beep, beep, Penny,' works rather well," Cassandra said from the communications station. A moment later she frowned as a signal came in. "Captain, we're receiving an automated signal." She held her hand up to her earpiece. "We're to find a suitable place to put our ship, and it's giving us coordinates where beam-ins are permitted."
“Automated...that’s interesting.” Kennit said as Cassandra nodded in agreement. “They aren’t interested in who we are...or why we’re here.” It told her a few things, she’d spent time in other locales where no one cared who you were or why you were there, no one other than those you came for..
“Very interesting.”
From the XO's chair Alec piped up. "Interesting? I suppose so but you can't make me believe our entrance wasn't noticed and right now people are scrambling to find out just who we are and why we're here."
The Captain shrugged, “Let ‘em scramble.. Lets get an away team together, go take a look around..” She lifted the mug she had brought with her from the Ready Room and took a sip of the deep green colored drink inside. Immediately she stopped and looked into the mug with a slightly odd expression as she swallowed. Looking over to Alec, she handed him the mug and said, “The latest concoction from the Doctor...try it.”
He gave her a surprised look, "From the Doctor and your drinking it? You think it's safe?" He asked half seriously as he brought the mug to his mouth and took a sip..... a little one.
As he took a sip, she answered, “I have no idea what it is...leprechaun taint I think..”
Taking another sip. Alec than handed the mug back to Rhea, nodding he exclaimed, "That would explain the green color. Though I have to admit it's not half bad."
Waving off the mug, she made a face and half laughed as she said “You actually like that green goop, keep it. And get an away team together.”
Alec looked at the mug again and set it down. "Uh, no, that's okay. You call it 'green goop' and suddenly it's not nearly as appealing or tasty. Not that it ever especially was," he chuckled. "An away team? How big an away team do you envision, oh Supreme Leader?"
“Two teams of four. I’ll lead one, you the other. I’ll see if I can contact whatever passes for station command staff, letting you and your team take a look around and see what you can find out with a little subtle recon of the station,” Kennit answered.
Alec nodded. " Aye Captain. Two teams of four. It seems like we are going to be busy. I so do love doing subtle recon especially if there's a chance of catching some nefarious bad guys," Alec bantered back.
"We're clear to transport any time," Cassandra said. "And I think I've cajoled their computer into telling me where the main section is."
“I want you to have the Doctor implant an emergency transponder into each member of the away teams. For you Number One, uniforms will likely stand out so civilian attire is mandated. Both teams will maintain contact with the ship at all times. Who do you want on your team?”
"Understood transponder inplanted in all away team members and my team gets to wear civies."Alec quipped ans then grew serious as he thought who he wanted on his team, Um I'll take Cassandra and Summers, it'll get her off the ship and lets see either Tanaka or Raylen." he looked at Rhea, "I'll let you decide especially if you're considering them for your team."
She shook her head, not liking the idea of allowing a known Romulan out of her sight on the station. The warning from Admiral Bennett echoed in the back of her thoughts as she answered, “I’d prefer to keep Summers with me. Take Tanaka with you. I want Summers, Torres, Major Prime, and Naroot, along with Ensign Dylo from science. He’s an alien anthropologist so his expertise with the unknown races over there may prove helpful.”
"Alright." Alec acquiesced easily with Rhea's decision to have Summers with her. "So I'll have Cassandra and Tanaka with me." He paused "What the hell, can I have Anderson on my team as well? She might have some insight to add."
“If she wants to tag along, I sure am not in the mood to try and stop her,” Kennit answered with a wry smile.
