Mission:
Plaga Navis
Location: Briefing Room
Timeline: Immediately after the Briefing
As the Captain marched out of the briefing room, the others slowly got up as well. Cass stood up next to Nicole and exchanged a long glance.
"You okay?" Nicole said.
"Nothing a few weeks of sleep won't cure," Cassandra assured her as Penny walked over and Nicole nodded, patting Cass' shoulder.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Nicole said, glaring at Penny as they walked out.
"I'm sorry!" Penny said, semi-quietly. "I stuck that landing though," she added as the doors closed behind them.
Cass shook her head and as the others passed by, she nodded to them and then came around the table and stopped in front of Commander Torres. "Commander," she said, once they were alone, "could I have a few minutes? I have some questions about this mission."
"You can have a few minutes, but not sure what questions I can give you answers for that weren't already given in the briefing." He told her as he stopped and looked at her.
"You could explain who this 'Nathan' person we're after is," she said. "And his relationship to the Captain."
"Nathan Torrence is a lying piece of worm ridden filth." Miguel told her. "He is not to be trusted in anyway. As to his relationship to the Captain that is a question for her to answer." he told her.
"I would appreciate a bit more detail," Cassandra said. "You are the only person on this ship who truly knows the Captain well, and if you know her history with this person I would appreciate an unbiased assessment, rather than the guarded, beat-around-the-bush response she's going to give me."
"Well Counselor I'm afraid that your still going to need to go through her on that because it's not my story to give you. What I can tell you is that it was while she was with Section 31 and I was on extended leave from Starfleet. I don't know what the exact nature of that mission was. But what I do know is that Nathan Torrence can only be trusted to do what's in his best interest. He'll cooperate as long as he thinks it's best for him."
Cassandra bit her lip and looked thoughtful. "All right," she said, then looked him in the eye. "Do you trust her judgement when it comes to him?"
"I trust her to do her duty no matter what, and that includes when it comes to him." Miguel responded without hesitation.
"I hope your faith isn't misguided," Cassandra said. "Is there anything else you can tell me about him, other than he can't be trusted? What do you know of his background, how he operates, what his motivations are?"
"Though I was on the ship at the time, he tended to not deal with the few of us there were there. He spent most of his time with the Captain." he told her.
Cassandra gave a slightly frustrated sigh, her brief bout of energy waning. "All right," she said, sinking down into a chair. "Thank you for your time, Commander." She rubbed her forehead and decided it was going to be a nap and then as much research as she could handle.
