Mission:
Plaga Navis
Location: USS Victory
In the turbolift, the Captain tapped her comm badge. “Kennit to Major Crowe.”
Over the comm came the somewhat surly rumble of the Marine officer’s Voice. “Crowe here Captain.”
At least he’d added in her rank when answering. A definite improvement over the last Marine CO assigned to Victory.
“Major, I have need of your assistance.” Kennit told him. “Please retrieve Captain Torrance and escort him to conference room 4-146. I will need one officer to stand guard in the passageway to see my discussion with him is not disturbed, and one guard inside the conference room as well. His task will be to ensue I don’t kill him.”
“Aye Captain,” Crowe replied. “We’ll here Captain Torrance there shortly.” Privately Crowe bristled at the idea of using the mans rank. He’d just been hauled out of an alien prison, had never actually been a Starfleet officer as he’d taken the place of this universe’s Nathan Torrance when that man had been killed on a mission to the Mirror Universe and escaped here..
The damn data brief he’d managed to read had been so full of redacted information it had given him a headache trying to read it.
Issuing quick orders, Crowe chose another Marine to join him and went to retrieve their ‘guest’...personally.
[Conference Room 4-146]
Seated at the table, the Captain had the holographic display set up and ready for use. She’d had a Yeoman bring her another carafe of coffee, and was ready when Crowe arrived with Captain Torrance in tow. Upon entering the conference room, Torrance stopped and took in the surroundings then said “You could have just asked me. I’d have come on over, there was no need to have sent Major Goonsquad here to bring me along.”
“Leave you unescorted and unattended on my ship?” Kennit replied. She then laughed, “Yeah.. That won’t happen.” Pointing at one of the seats around the table, she said “Sit.”
“Far be it from me to argue with my wife..” Torrance answered.
Kennit ignored him, and instead poured herself some coffee and looked over to th Major, “Major Crowe, would you like a cup?”
At his nod, she poured a mug of the brew and then walked over to hand it to him. She poured a third mug as well, setting it before Torrance without speaking. Refilling her cup, she sat down and looked at Nathan. “I need some information, and I am quite certain you can fill in some of the blanks for me. Touching the control, she pulled up a holographic display which showed one of the ship’s which had come to the Starbase and caught her attention. Next to the sensor image of the ship taken from the station’s systems was the energy signature analysis, with the quantum variance highlighted in red. “Have you seen this ship before?”
He glanced at it, shrugged. “I’ve seen a lot of ships. Am I supposed to recognize all of them?”
“Don’t pull that. You see the data analysis and you know as well as I do what that is, that ship and it’s crew are from your dimension. I don’t feel like playing games I need to know who they are, and what they’re here.”
“I haven’t been there in nearly 13 years, not since I saw the chance to save my own skin and took the place of a man who’d died in front of me, with my face. I came back with you and your little spy venture and I’ve stayed here.” Nathan answered.
“Doesn’t mean shit.” Kennit retorted. “I find your out here, and discover evidence of that ship plus two more having made regular visits for equipment and supplies that tell me you’re compatriots appear to be building something. I need to know if they are here..”
“Can’t help you.” Nathan answered, “I havn’t encountered anyone that I’m aware of who is also a refugee that managed to find a way across.”
“You’re going to have to do better than that, what can you tell me about that ship.” Kennit asked.
Nathan looked at it for a moment, “Looks like it’s a converted Ranger class corvette. Here..and here. Weapons bays. They’ve modified it to look bulky, but I’d bet that this part of the hill along here c a be jettisoned off to allow for full speed and maneuvers during combat.”
Crowe looked at the schematic and laughed. "A 'Ranger-class corvette'?! Are you expecting us to believe that a dipshit like you would know how a corvette from a pleasure cruiser?" Crowe looked at Kennit. "He looks like he couldn't count his balls and get the same number twice, cap'n. So, why in the fuck would we wanna take your word for anything, dumbass?" Vic had to remember not to get too feisty as he was still sore from the prison break, another reason he brought along backup in the form of First Lieutenant Kathy Cranford, a solid, silver-haired officer who looked pretty pissed off. Cranford was a practitioner of krav maga, and the detachment's unarmed combat instructor.
Crowe looked at Cranford. "Lieutenant, you look like you might need some practice with your form. If this dickwipe refuses cooperation, you can use him to practice on." Vic stared into Nathan's eyes. "If you harm my NCO in any way, I'll break you into tiny pieces!"
“Major That is more than enough.” the Captain said.
Nathan, without looking away from the Marine said “Actually Captain, I think I am feeling ill. I wish to be returned to the quarters I was assigned to rest per your Chief Medical Officer’s instructions..”
Frustrated highly now, Kennit said “Nathan..this is not the time for this.. I need this information..”
“And I don’t feel well..” he retorted. “You are obligated to return me to rest per the instructions given by your Chief Medical Officer.”
“Fine.” Kennit snapped. “Major. Escort Captain Torrence back to his assigned quarters. Make certain he is not further injured.” She added in a tone that left no room of misinterpretation... Torrence was not to be further harassed.
“It’s nearly time for us to enter sensor range of the freighter anyway.. we will continue this at a later time.” She added, her gaze on Nathan for a moment.
Then, once Nathan was on the way back escorted by the Marines she headed to the Bridge.
