Mission:
Plaga Navis
Location: Cassandra's Office
OOC: Hello! Welcome! It's standard to have an introductory post with the counselor. Gives us a chance to get to know your character and his background. I'm sorry I couldn't start it sooner, but I've been a bit busy. Would you care to start us off?
Zack approached the office of the ship's counselor. While he usually doesn't have reasons to see a counselor, protocol said that new additions to the crew must be interviewed by the ship's counselor of their new ship.
He activated the chime and waited.
The doors opened and Cassandra stood with her hands clasped in front of her, smiling. "Hello, Zach. I'm Doctor Sanders, but please feel free to call me Cassandra if you like. Won't you come in?" She gestured towards an Amish-style wood and upholstery chair. "Please, have a seat."
Zack moved to the chair she indicated and sat.
She sat down in her armchair and crossed her legs, smoothing out her dress and smiling at him. "So, let me begin by saying, 'welcome aboard' and please, tell me about yourself."
"I'm sure you read my file, doctor. To begin with, I'm an orphan, my parents died when I was young. I moved in with relatives who became my new family. I had an ordinary upbringing....didn't hate my adopted parents....got along with my cousins. I always dreamed about joining the fleet, so this is my dream come true."
Cassandra smiled. "I did read your file, yes, but files rarely tell us about the people we meet. Now that you've achieved your dream, what's next?"
"What every junior officer dreams of....command and beautiful women....like yourself." He smiled at her.
Cassandra smiled demurely and inclined her head in acknowledgement. "I'm flattered," she said. "I'm also engaged." She gave a small smile as his crest fell slightly. "A desire for beautiful women I can understand, and those we have aplenty on this ship. Why a desire for command?"
"Because then a person joins an elite club. Not everyone is command material. You make it that far, you're one of the best of the best."
"Or one of the craziest," Cassandra said, smiling wider. "Prestige and status are all well and good, but Command isn't just a social club. Leading others is a vocation. It requires not just someone who is 'best' but someone who can coax the best out of others. Do you think you have that quality?"
"I did very well on all the Academy's command tests. I think I can be one of the best. Besides...women like the uniform," he smiled at her.
Cassandra smirked. "Well, I can't dispute that," she said. "Do you see yourself in Command in the near future? Or are you still exploring Engineering?"
"Engineering is exciting and interesting...I would be lying if I said that I never want to be on the bridge every day.....so yes, I see myself in command.....hopefully sooner then later."
"Well I look forward to seeing you achieve your goal," Cassandra said. "Do you have any questions for me? Is there anything I can do to help you settle in?"
"Since you're engaged, I have no questions for you, Doctor. And I'll find someone to help me....'settle in'."
Cassandra raised an eyebrow. "Well, then, good day, Mister Logan, and good luck aboard." She smiled gently and walked him to the door.
